Updating metadata

Is it necessary to update metadata on a regular basis? I don't unless when I load something it tells me that the item I'm loading into DS needs to update the Metadata for that item.

    Metadata will be updated when you let DS connect to Daz. If a product shows an update in Smart Content then that's the product, not just metadata.

    It will also be updated if the item appears in DIM as having been updated, and you then download the update and install it.

    Right now, it always updates the meta-data, when every I open the studio. What can I do

    Actually it doesn't as per image.   Removed a directectory in the data base, duf is still contained in the OTHER directory via DIM install, but Daz can't seem to find it.  Show update meta data window on start is selected, but none ever appears, and it's  unable to find Gen9.

    Updating metadata is a checkable option in the login dialogue.

    If it shows a Connect install it will ignore DIM/manual installs, even if that file is available and he Connect version isn't.
