4.6 and toon shading

4.6 install with some shader presets such as dzToonSkin. I cannot figure out how to get it to affect my render, and I've looked at several tutorials. I can drag the shader onto the figure, or double click it, or control-click it or first select all the individual elements of my figure and then do any of these, but no matter what, the render always looks the same and my surfaces don't show any new toon-related options.

What is the proper way to get a toon shader to work?

Thanks for the help, but I've been doing these steps for the last couple days with no effect. I've even tried both Mac and Windows, and no matter what shader I choose, it has zero effect on my model.

Here are perhaps some causes or questions:

    1) Does it depend on what material you have? I just add a plain Genesis figure and then play with shaders. Should this work?

    2) Do you need to select any part of the figure before applying the shader? I've tried selecting nothing in the figure, and I've tried selecting the figure and all children before applying shader. I've tried dragging the shader onto the figure and I've tried the control-double click method you describe.

Nothing I do makes the shaders have any effect at all.

I should add that I never see any additional settings in the Surfaces Editor after using the method to apply the toon shader, so I assume this shader is not actually getting applied? Is there a way to see what shader is currently applied to a figure?

Ah I figured it out. I had been clicking on the toon shader listed in the content library. That never worked even though it presented the same pop-up settings, so I suspect a bug. However, clicking the same shader from the Smart Content pane works.

No it works on all materia

I’ve tried selecting nothing in the figure, and I’ve tried selecting the figure and all children before applying shader. I’ve tried dragging the shader onto the figure and I’ve tried the control-double click method you describe.

    1) Go to Surface | render tab
    2) Click one time on your figure or object in the main view
    3) Go to Surface -> editor
you will see your object / figure name their
    4) select thuse part you want applay the shaders on inside Surface -> editor -> Victora 4.2 -> (in my case) see image in my guide frist Picture what I did select

it is very easy to applay it.
I only started my self using daz3d 1-2 week ago in some Project, other case I was using Poser 2012.

if you like I can show you live how todo it add me on skype greatlords and tell me in your Contact messge we did meet on daz3d forum if ypu want live guide how todo it

How to use any Shader in DAZ Studio 4.6

Load a figure. Select the Figure in the Scene Tab.
Open the Surface Tab. Expand the Figure in the Surface Tab
Select all the Sections of the figure you wish to SHADE.
With the figure STILL selected in the Scene Tab and the Surfaces Tab apply the shader.

Here is Default Toon Glossy in DS4.6 on Genesis.
