Daz Studio Pro BETA - version 4.11.0.335! (*UPDATED*)

Comments

  • There hasn't been a public beta since last August, although there has been 'Private' progress sporadically. :0/

All I can suggest is keeping an eye on the change log and watch the numbers go up - Daz will release a new version (Public Build or a full Release Build) when they are ready.

If it were me, I would be trying to make sure the next release included RTX support (and I’m not just talking about the basic support that the 20 series cards have with the current beta). This is at least in part dependent on Nvidia/Iray.

Yes, this is apparently largely in nVidia's court. Iray also has change logs, though they cover aspects not relevant to DS so tracking those may potentially give a false impression.

I'm confused. I mean I can see that the technical aspect of the implementation lays on Nvidias side, but isn't Daz the one who has to reach out to Nvidia to get it implemented? It should be at least Daz's interest to get it implemented into Daz Studio.

Daz is only a very small player where Iray is concerned. Iray is a multi-platform, universally compatible plugin rendering engine used by many major 3dcg creation suites with MUCH larger, actively paying user bases than Daz Studio (eg. 3DS Max.) I can pretty much guarantee you that what Daz's development team wants to see from Iray in terms of future features sits very low on the active priorities list of Iray's developers.

With that said, I can also pretty much guarantee you that 3DS Max's development team is already hounding Iray for full RTX support in their copy of the Iray plugin. And since all since all Iray plugins of the same version get the same feature set, Daz Studio is gonna get full RTX support when everyone else does - whether they actually want it or not.

Daz is hardly the only company licensing Iray, and prsumably wanting RTX support.

Iclone got the iray plugin too. I feel like their dev. department is way more active than the one of Daz. I wouldn't be surprised if they get rtx support implemented first.

If that's true it would be just technically possible to get RTX support at the same time. But I feel like the dev. of Daz Studio is really slow currently.

Yeah, but in fairness to Daz's developers up until RTX released last fall there really hadn't been enough technological developments in the 3d rendering space to warrant a new Daz Studio release (apart from Volta support, pretty much the only difference between the current Beta and 4.10 is incremental updates despite the former being years newer than the latter.) And technically it is still only very early days for RTX platform support in general (the tech may have debuted months ago, but the APIs for using it are less than a month old.)

Volta support... Except denoiser has never worked for my titan volta. Fingers crossed with that new Iray plugin mentioned in the Daz changelog.

I installed the latest fixed driver and now I'm back rendering on the GPU :). Thanks everyone.

Will the problem be fixed in 4.11 that the smoothing modifer does not have time to send data to the server? (Iray Bridge) This leads to a render that there is no smoothing modifer on clothes.

I know a workaround by creating an obj file, but it is not convenient, in my opinion.

Do bear in mind that if Daz is developing some new, top-secret feature of DS then it won't be mentioned in the change log (just subsumed under a heading like Source mantenance). Iray was a surprise, as was dForce.

I'm still not able to save/retrieve parameter favorite settings.  I had Daz3D v4.10 and v4.11 installed.  I uninstalled both, and reinstalled v4.11 (beta).  I created a new scene and put G8M on it, and click on his head and selected the favorite heart in Bend, Twist, and Side-Side.  I saved the scene, closed the program, reopened, loaded the scene, and the favorites are not checked.

The log file has the following:

2019-02-16 17:22:57.912 JSON interpreter warning: Unexpected string in array: XRotate
2019-02-16 17:22:57.912 JSON interpreter warning: Unexpected string in array: YRotate
2019-02-16 17:22:57.912 JSON interpreter warning: Unexpected string in array: ZRotate

Do you know how to fix this?

What problem are you having with reinstalling? A disappearing figure could be either the Maipulation Draw Style (set in the Draw Settings pane) or a video driver issue.

*Wink-wink, nudge-nudge... I for one cannot wait to be wow'd by the next development, my wish is being able to animate our characters using mocap from 2D video footage! Pipe dream sure, but ya never know!

Betas can only be installed from DIM.

I have no clue what is due, but am kinda expecting it during march madness; perhaps, alternatively, soon after - but before G9; this is presuming we get G9 somewhere around June. Speculation? Hardly; it's mostly guess-work, as there is little data to form an opinion on.

... But I am very curious as to what 4.11 will bring - what features the beta contains we don't know are there.

  • marblemarble Posts: 7,500

The answer might be obvious but the qustion has just occurred to me: does the beta which is available for download/install get updated regularly? I am running (and using almost exclusively) the 4.11 beta version I installed months ago thinking that any later versions would be announced here. I'm guessing that, as the version number in the title of this thread doesn't change, neither does the download version.

Thanks - at least I know now that I haven't been missing out on updates since last October.

  • I need the beta installer .. again... mine disappeared .. the DAZStudio4 Public Build folder has a plugins folder and a docs folder .. that's it.

FYI, new Iray SDK has been offically released today. So now the ball is in DAZ's court.

SDK or Iray version? In any event, it would need integration and testing before it was likely to see a public release of any kind. Edit: where did you see this? The SDK page does not show anything https://developer.nvidia.com/iray-sdk . Still, Daz has been working with the updated SDKs as shown in the chnage log (so that would be the thing to watch) http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/change_log#4_11_0_298

Yeah... where are you seeing mention of an RTCore supporting Iray SDK release, exactly? Because I'm not seeing that in any of the usual places. And Word of God currently has it that the earliest we could see that would be the end of March.

  • I think that sylvie1998 has a point. The MDL sdk was updated ten days ago and it uses a new build number (314800.830). It seems that the build number often correlates between the different sdk projects.https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/1047829/announcement-mdl-sdk-2019-released/

As I said, new Iray SDK ("version" was implied),

Correct me if I'm wrong, but what you actually said was:

FYI, new Iray SDK has been offically released today.

In which case where is this official release announcement?

    @Richard Haseltine

let's just say I have my sources :-)

If by "sources" you mean information gleaned from resources available to members of the Nvidia Developer Program (which isn't an exclusive source of information since it is free to join) I'm still not seeing it. Is this actually code for information gleaned from having short-term access to the Iray SDK itself? (which also isn't an exclusive source of information since free trial-based access is just a few emails away.)

now the Iray SDK with RTX support is also out,

Again, you kind of need to back up statements like this with sources for what you're talking about if your objective is to help others understand what's gonig on.
