But I did get to download this nifty $25.00 errormessage.txt instead:

This file indicates that an error has occured.
If you received this file, then an error has, indeed, occured.

Somebody might want to poke DAZ with a garden hoe or something and get them to make the actual download available.
;)

With such an amusing error message, why would you ever want your download? ;)

I'm waiting on it too... I loved LDP2 so I have to have this one. Even If I'm wrong for buying it I bought it...

Been waiting for a long time on this one.
I know many people have. :)
It is downloading now via DIM or the products page.
Can not wait to dive in there this weekend.

    ...just saw this myself.

...still in a state of disbelief. My concern however is how much of it is dependent on Photoshop (which I don't have and never will unless I win the lotto)?

Watch the Vids, only some Effects need PS. They were never in LDP2.

Yeah, I believe the Photoshop is just for the bonus actions he included.
Does not seem to be required at all.

..so It's mainly the layering stuff then and the fog haze and distance effects can be used in Daz?

Since I stared with 4 Pro, I've been using Cloud9 for large outdoor scenes and Lantios Lights for smaller vignettes. I still miss the more warm, almost "painterly" quality and rich sense of depth I could achieve with LDP which is nearly impossible with the UE based light systems. Also will be nice to have a light set that can handle both day and night settings again.

...and Dreamlight's Skydomes have always been the best n my book.

Tried downloading this with DIM, but it only sees the Photoshop files! Have had to download manually from the Product Library.

...that's not good as it is a plugin, not simply content so it's trickier to install manually. I'd suggest putting in a support ticket on that.

Yeah, DIM was a little wonky.
It downloaded both files for me.
    But the first install failed.
    Second time was the charm.

    :)

The title got me a little confused. I take it you are talking about LDP-R if so it relies on Photoshop for one function only as it shows in the vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EIkjDLiHE3M

On the Readme there is an entry in "Known Issues":

The manual and video may give the wrong location for the render save location. The correct location is \user\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\Render Library

You may need to create this folder if you run the Render LDP-R script in the Render menu and receive an error saving the first image. (the folder path it's looking for is documented in the DS4.6's error log). The files are loaded into Photoshop from this directory.

Otherwise it's very slick how you can manipulate the image renders as layers within Photoshop.

So you can't save renders to another location? I don't use the user\documents folders ...

I'd direct your questions to the LDP-R vendor support thread that has just opened: Light Dome PRO-R Official Render / Questions Thread

Edit: Updated support thread link with thread title

It is actually required, and a vital part of LDP-R to produce its final look and feel. Just rendering the layers, and playing with them in The Gimp or any other 2D editing software will not produce the final look and feel.

However, you can get Photosop CS2 "kind of" for free here:
    http://basic3dtraining.com/photoshop-and-cs2-free-dont-miss-this/

(I'm not endorsing free downloading, so please read carefully and do your own decision)

This software is free for re-downloading if you bought it before, however, it will work even though you haven’t bought it, but it won’t work on newer systems like Windows 8.

Damn it... I use old creaky versions of Photoshop 7 and Elements 9 - and probably only the latter when I get a new system in a few months' time, because I've lost the install for 7. Shall have to stick to sky domes/lighting effects which take care of everything within Daz, for the moment.

Best of luck with the product, though!

Works OK in PS7. I have managed to use it.

I can vouch the LDP-R Action works in Photoshop 7 with no apparent issues also.

Thank you and it should work perfectly with PS 7, just needs to be in english!

...so again, is PS elements good enough or does one need the 700$ version of the app?

I was able to get it working with Adobe Elements 10 for Windows. I posted instructions here: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/26593/P15/#394663

Okay so I just purchased this and DAZ's DIM installed the first part fine. I used the default settings and locations, but the Photoshop portion failed, saying that the directory for my Photoshop was not set. I spent an hour working on that and finally was able to get DIM to install the second part of LDP-R (Photoshop) successfully.

However now when I open DAZ Studio and go to the Dreamlight folder, where LDP-R is supposed to reside, it's not there, so I'm unable to load it into any scenes. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing it via DIM and each time it successfully installs. But each time I go to look for it, it's not there. I've had DAZ Studio search all my hard drives for new content, and no luck. I've installed with DAZ Studio open, I've installed with DAZ Studio closed. I've searched for the contents using the search function and it just isn't there. Has anyone else run into this? Unfortunately I had to leave for work so I couldn't troubleshoot any further.

Very odd, have you tried the other installer?
