Missing files and where they should go...???
Hello,
It is me asking for help, once again.
I purchased JACK PUMPKIN, but I couldn't find him in my Daz Library. I checked the Daz Installer, and it wasn't in the queue, and it didn't even show up as a selectable option.
I am sure that it is an older model, and that is why the Installer can't install it. I know that you "should" be able to manually install the files, but I have tried this SEVERAL times (and I am talking about 20+ times with various models) and have had zero success.
I am sure it is just a matter of dropping the file into the right folder, but so far, I have NOT been able to do this. I would appreciate ANY help I can get with this.
I have had this problem for quite some time, and because of this, I can't (won't) purchase any files that the Daz Installer can't install. This eliminates options like Renderosity and other sites. It would be a tremendous help.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
NOTE: I open the zip files, and there is:
Runtime:
Geometrics => DAZpeople
Libraries => Characer
Textures => DAZ => Character
Weblinks (which really is no help)
Thanks again!

Install your product into a folder. For example, you could create a new empty folder C:\JackPumpkin, and install the product into it.
Verify it installed correctly. After installation you should have (among other things) a "C:\JackPumpkin\Runtime". ( Make sure you don't end up with the files at the wrong level like "C:\JackPumkin\JackPumkin\Runtime" or "C:\JackPumkin\Runtime\Runtime" or something; I occasionally unzip to the wrong folder, and not all zip files unzip the same way, so you need to double-check, and MAY possibly need to select ALL installed files, including the Runtime, and move them upwards one folder.)
From your Content Library tab's menu icon, select "Content Directory Manager". In the tree, click on "Poser Formats", then click on the Add button. Browse to and select C:\JackPumkin . (do NOT select C:\JackPumkin\Runtime). In the tree, click on "DAZ Studio Formats", then click on the Add button. Browse to and select C:\JackPumkin again. (some products may only need Poser or only DAZ Studio formats, some need both, so you might only need to do one of these two actions.)
From your Content LIbrary tab's menu icon, select "Scan known directories for files". Once it is complete, your products should be available somewhere in your Content Library. Sometimes they will appear somewhere with in Categories > Default > Unassigned, sometimes they will go into the default category structure.
Where is your main install folder? Are you suing My Library?
If so, simply drop the contents of the folder called 'Content' into the My Library folder (or whatever folder you are using), assuming that you are using a PC, Mac does not merge files by default as far as I know. Do NOT create a folder called content inside the My Library folder, merge the contents of that folder into the My Library folder.
Most older content sold in the store here is in Poser Format, so you will need to look in the Content Library pane under Poser Formats for that content.
