Seeing Gen 3 items on Gen 8 characters in images from the store.

I'm not even 2 months in with Daz3d, so my insight is very limited. All i have bought are Genesis 8 females, items, poses, morphs etc, but when i roam the store i see the previews and they are wearing Genesis 3 clothing or hair for example, but the storepage will say it's only compatible with Genesis 3.

This confuses me a bit so i wonder what is going in these images. Is it compatible or not? Does it require something special for it to work? Cause sometimes i see something i like or i could use really well, but i don't have the required base character for it to work according to the storepage.

I did buy for example...

I can wear it, but when the head is turned i see the item doesn't follow the movements properly. Does this occur with all incompatible items, or does it depend on the combination?

Maybe someone can give me a general explanation.

Hi! It's not that hard to convert them between G3 and G8 without the issues AutoFit causes: https://www.deviantart.com/sickleyield/journal/Tutorial-Convert-Clothing-G3-to-G8-G8-to-G3-686682065?showbanner=false But you will sometimes see us vendors using all kinds of content on G8 that was made for previous figures, because AutoFit isn't that bad, I sell templates for helping with dresses, hairs can be parented to the head instead of conformed, and we need a lot of variety from the sheer # of images we do. I have four products in testing right now with an average of 10 promos each. Around 32 of the 40 will have characters in them, often more than one. That's potentially 64 outfits to come up with, maybe fewer hairs if some are bald, helmeted, or androids. And now multiply that by two products a month average, all year long...

Some outfits I find fit better than others with autofit. Try SY's tutorial since it can help fit items easier.

Wooow easy on the math here buddy, i get it, you make alotta pictures for your products, you don't have to crack my head with numbers.

I bookmarked the link so i can have a go at it later on, much appreciated.

Just curious, is this like a fulltime job for you where you live exclusively on creating content for Daz3d?

And why isn't there more male clothing? ;)

Well, it's hard to type when your last sentence causes my hand to automatically form into a slapping motion, but yes. :D I average 40-50 hours a week, usually split into some "long days" and some "short days" because it is easier to work 4 hours or 16 than 8 for me. At some points it's been more, but I had to roll back on doing weekend paid tutorials for the sake of my mental health (it was just too much to add). Daz3d is what pays my bills. I'm big on crunching numbers as regards what I do.

Those are some long long working hours, but i feel ya. I have some stuff listed from the store i've been needing/wanting for a project, but i'll think of you next month and i'll especially avoid the sales if that would help you out a bit. Keep it up, but also take care.

And i don't do numbers, i have think of my mental health as well. ;)

Just to explain the remark that Sickleyield made and to prevent another fractious discussion of the kind that happens roughly every six months, please google "sickleyield", "deviantart", and "why isn't there more male clothing" and be prepared for simple math...
