I think I know the answer but I'm hoping for a pleasant surprise ... I'm thinking of buying this product:

https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-hd-wet-and-dry-baby-doll-outfit-for-genesis-8-female-s

Which comes with several geoshells for wet skin, etc. Problem is I have lots of G3F and very little G8F so, while the BabyDoll dress might not be a problem, I'm thinking that I can't use the geoshells on G3F. Would I be correct?

Since it's a clone of the geometry, I would think not.

Ahh, well, I did expect that was the case. Thanks for answering.

I haveShort Wet Hair for Genesis 8 Male(s) and Female(s) that I think includes the same wet skin geoshell and it works on GF3/Victoria 7 but you will need to hide the eyelashes on the geoshell.

Oh, that's very encouraging. Think I'll risk it then. I can always return it if not.

    Thank you.

Yes, mats76 is correct. I use Lindsay's Short Wet Hair wet skin geoshell on G3M and G3F quite a bit. I have to occasionally adjust because I will sometimes use the Legacy M4/V4 UVs in the G3 figures. But I have never ran into any issues I was ever aware of.

I can also attest to this. I have Linday's short Wet hair, and I've used the geoshell on G3M with no problem. just hide the eyelash material in the surfaces pane.

Good enough for me. I bought the product and will test it later. Thank you all.

Just a question about Anatomical Elements. I don't have the DAZ set (I object to having to buy a Pro bundle I neither need nor want) so I have the 3feetwolf product. When the Wet Geoshell is applied (it works fine on G3F, by the way) the AE turns white. Any tips?

I would guess the product uses a Geoshell that interfere with the Wet Skin Geoshell so try this: Apply the 3feetwolf product to G8F then apply the SWH Wet Geoshell to G8F (not the Wet Skin Gen Geosheel). Select the Wetskin Geoshell and go to parameters tab where you should find options to turn off Geoshell for teeth, torso and so on, find everything that has to do with the 3feetwolf product to do and turn them off.

Now the grey layer should be gone but you would still miss the Wet skin effect on that area, so since it was a Anatomical element product do the following to apply Wet skin effect to that area: with the Wet skin Geoshell selected go to surface tab and copy the torso settings (rigth click and copy selected surfaces). Then select the Geoshell for the 3feetwolf product (you will now its a Geoshell by selecting it and look at the parameter tab to se if it has the shell option) then go to surface tab and find the same entries as you turned of on the Wet Skin Geoshell (everything that has to do with the 3feetwolf product) and paste the previous copied torso setting to each of them. Now the 3feetwolf product should have the Wet skin effect applied.

Many thanks for taking the time to explain. It is a bit late in the evening here but I'll try your method tomorrow.

[EDIT] See my later post for a more efficient method suggested by 3feetwolf.

Ok - so now I have had a chance to try your method and, if you don't mind,  I'll try to itemise the steps for anyone who has that third party product. I hope that's acceptable but if not, I'll post it on the R'otica forum under 3feetwolf's Product Support.

    1. Load G3F (or G8F).

    2. Add NGV8 Anat. Elem's.

    3. Select G3F and apply the Linday Wet Skin Geoshell.

    4. Select the W.S. Geoshell in the Scene Tab.

    5. Go to the Surfaces Tab and look for any NGV8 surfaces under the WSG surfaces list.

    6. Make those zero opacity.

    7. Scroll down to the Torso surface in the same list and R-Click and Copy Selected Surfaces.

    8. In the Scene Tab select the NGV8 Effect Layer (if it is set to invisible, click the little eye to make it visible).

    9. Back to the Surfaces Tab and find the NGV8 entries for the Effect Layer and paste the copied settings.

I hope all that makes sense.

Glad it worked. And that is a nicer step by step guide that is easy to follow yes

    Thank you :)

3feetwolf suggested an even easier method on his R'otica forum just now so I'll give that a try tomorrow.

Just tried the 3feetwolf method and it works very well with fewer steps and only involves changes the the Wet Geoshell which includes the surfaces for his product. I hope he doesn't mind if I outline the method here:

    1. Load character and apply NGV8

    2. Apply Linday Wet body geoshell

    3. Select the Wet shell in the Scene Tab and then go to the Surfaces Tab and expand the shell surfaces

    4. Select the two "new_gens_v8.." surfaces and apply DAZ IRay Uber from the Shader Presets (otherwise the following copy/paste won't work)

    5. Select the Torso from the same Shell surfaces and R-Click, copy selected.

    6. Paste the Torso surface settings to the two "new_gens..." surfaces.

You might need to switch the UV setting on those two surfaces back to V7 or whatever character UV you are using.

Note: I changed the thread title because, although the Wet Geoshells came with the BabyDoll product, they are the same as those with a wet hair product  and this thread is about the shells, not the dress.

  • Does anyone know how to get the Geoshell to work on a Genesis 8.1 boday? It just comes up as white.
