dForce Advanced tab: A Valid OpenCL 1.2 Device could not be found

I've been having this issue for over a month after a fresh Windows install and everything I've tried to look up about this issue claim that simply updating the NVidia drivers fixes it.  That is not the case for me.  I currently have the 398.36 drivers and it is still not working.  dForce worked fine for me before on the exact same hardware setup, so I know that's not the issue.

Any ideas/help?  Thanks.

Windows 10 | GeForce 1080 (x2) | Intel i7-5930K | 64 GB RAM

I did have the issue but for me updating through Nvidia experience did the trick. Also check the advanced tab in dForce simulation if your card is in the drop down. Good luck!

edit : I had this issue yesterday and while researching someone mentioned installing openCL itself or something.

  • The Advanced tab doesn't even have a drop down, it just says the error message, and my drivers are as up to date as they can be.  I'll look into trying to install OpenCL separately...if I can find it.  Thanks for the reply.

Win 10 seems to have a habit of wanting to install Microsoft graphic drivers and these, from what I have read, do not seem to offer a sufficiently good version of OpenCL to be used by dForce.  The answer appears to be to install drivers direct from nVidia.  You only really need standalone OpenCL drivers for your CPU.

But I did install the latest drivers direct from Nvidia...  frown

  • Well that was weird.  Turns out I didn't have an OpenCL folder in the NVIDIA Corporation folder (no idea why it wasn't installing it.)  Just happened to be reinstalling my old system drive to use as additional storage when I noticed the difference in content between the NVIDIA Corporation folders in the two drives.  Tried copying the OpenCL folder over to the new drive.  Still didn't immediately work, but after a few more driver reinstallations and reboots, dForce is suddenly recognizing my cards....so...yay?  Hopefully it keeps working!  lol
