How do I get a mirror to reflect ?

edited December 1969 in Art Studio

I'm trying to get a surface to act like a mirror. I have a scene with two mirrors in it but they come out black in then renders. What do I need to do to get the mirrors to reflect the rest of the scene ?

Poser or DAZ Studio? is the scene actually there, or is it a background image? And are the surfaces facing the mirrors lit?

The mirrors from http://www.daz3d.com/reflect-me reflect out of the box. As long as there is enough light, that is.

This is actually a good question. I know how to make things reflective in Bryce, but haven't even tried anything reflective like a mirror in Daz

I finally got my mirrors to work by copying the glass parameters from one of the Reflect Me mirrors. You have to have a lot of light on the part that is getting mirrored and my renders ran about an hour and a half with a fairly fast desktop.

Here's my post from the old forum archive with the settings for mirrors in Daz Studio. Still valid in all later versions.
