Does anybody try the plug-in genesis 8 for maya ?

Thanks for time

Hi I am amazed at the Lack of comments here on the forum about this product? I quess I am the only one that has had trouble getting it work.
Have you opened support tickets? There is a thread dedicated to the Daz Studio to Maya plug-in. https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/208631/daz-to-maya-question/p1
It's infuriating that PAs like this could not be bothered to include **a PDF detailing how to use their product Thanks for posting this, hopefully the PA will wake up and include a detailed PDF on how to use the plugin!
**(And NO we don't need yet another rambling mumbling snore-fest video tutorial where the PA fumbles out for hours with a scene!)
My plug-in, Genesis 8 for Maya, will export out any morphs you favorite (at least the 100s I tested anyway). If you're asking if it will export out the genetalia geo graft, it will, but the geo-graft doesn't export out with JCMs, which will make it appear like it's pulling away from the thighs when the legs are moved in certain ways. The JCMs not being exported out has something to do with it being a geo-graft instead of a figure-prop asset, I'm currently in communication with Daz on how to get the JCMs for geo grafts exported.
On a side note, I chose not to include a PDF with my plug-in because I feel like updating a PDF regularly isn't very practical. Not to mention every time I wanted to change the wording or update this said PDF I would have to get ahold of Daz QA and go through the process of updating my product with them, which isn't a very good use of their resources nor mine. I felt like having a webpage I could update on the fly would be a better way to go.

Hello Laylo,
Thanks for reply, You say you're in communication with daz to find a solution for exporting out the genitals JCMs. If its possible, will you include this in a release of youre plug-in, and when
?
If it is possible I will update my plug-in as soon I as find out what I need to do to get Daz Studio to export them. I just emailed them again a couple days ago, because I hadn't heard anything back since they initially said they were going to look into it.
Thanks for not burying the content in thousands of wiki pages, god how I detest wikis!
A lot more time consuming to hunt down information vs a simple web-page/PDF... (NOT wikis they suck as I don't have time to scour millions of seperate links) Appreciate the info though, I was mostly speaking in general as this is not unique for this specific PA.
Hey Laylo,
I've just purchased the plugin - and am very excited about adding it to my animation production workflow. First question - is there anyway to get geometry shells to export from Daz and parent to Maya in the same way that clothing does. I'd like to use geometry shells in Maya for multi-layered textures that I can toggle on and off. I could just do a multi layer in the hypershade but that would mean rebuilding and geometry shells would just allow me to toggle on and off as required to render.
thanks
Andrew
Hi I wanted to follow up, Daz got back to me. It turns out the genitalia works just fine with my plug-in and has for a long time lol. It's kind of a weird thing, when you import a figure with genitalia it has a separate mesh object as the genitalia which doesn't follow the figure, but if you hide it the main figure mesh has the genitalia welded on and so far seems to work quite well! No update necessary, just try hiding the separate genitalia mesh.
Hope that helps!
Thanks!
Is it possible to apply iclone animations to the character imported with Genesis 8 for Maya?
What I have in mind is:
Is this possible? Has anyone tried this?
Unfortunately, I don't know. I don't have iclone either so I can't check, sorry.
Good news ! But i'm not sure to understand, where i've to hide the unexpected genitalia and how ? when you say "separated mesh", do you mean the genitalia mesh in the genesis8_group, like the eyeslashes ?
Can you please post one ore two pictures to illustrate that, it will be very helpful![smiley smiley](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/regular_smile.png)
Thanks in advance
In fact, after testing it seems the original genitals is properly connect to genesis 8. But there're no morph exported for it in the shape editor for maya. why ? moreover, some génitals add-on like the diktator find in renderotica' store is not well rigged even if it's a geo-grafted props.
Does you're plug-in is able to export the genital's morph ? and what's about the renderotica's add-on such as dikatator and so on for genesis 8 female .
Thanks in advance
Yes, you just select the geneitalia and hit CTRL+H to hide it and you'll see that there's another one welded to the figure underneath.
The reason there are no JCMs or morphs for it is because you can't export them out the same way they can be exported out with figures. You would have to export them out each one at a time and create blendshapes for them inside Maya manually. I spoke with Daz and confirmed this.
The male genitalia works the same way, just hide the extra separate mesh for it and it will reveal the one that's welded to the figure. From what I can tell, all the bones for it still function properly, you just have to find them under the "pevlis" bone. This leads me to believe that genitalia from other sites, with or without bones, should also work the same way and function properly, minus the morphs. Which, like I said, the morphs could be brought into the Maya scene and added manually if you desie, but unfortunately there's not a straight forward way for me to automate this process via scripting.
I hope that answers your question. I also added a pic that shows the separate female genitalia mesh hidden in the outliner to illustrate what I was talking about. I don't think I can show the actually genitalia and how it's welded to the thighs without violating the TOS of this forumn.
Also, here's a video I created talking more about using geo-grafts inside Maya. You may find it helpful.
Again, I hope this helps, best regards!
The genitalia export needs to be done as separate character entity, meaning export your full character as an .obj with the genitalia pose you need. More poses, more exports. In Maya, import and apply as a blendshape. Verify the mesh subdivision level so the vertex count matches in Maya. Animation import/export as FBX, look at this thread:
https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/277271/tutorial-import-fbx-animation-to-daz-studio-pro-copy-it-to-the-g3-character#latest
and modify the script manually for G8.
Hi jari,
Does the maya's défault option are good to export an object from daz to maya or, are there some correction to do ? And how can o reduce the numbre of vertices when exporting may obj. i've try to play with the subdiv paramter but it doesn't work ?
Hi. Does anyone know how to fix a shoe problem? In this script, shoes are distorted:

In "Daz To Maya" script everything is fine: https://www.dropbox.com/s/747476w9gansp64/DazToMaya.png
Good day,
I have 3 issues that I need assistance with.
1. How can I scale a genesis 8 character in Maya ? because I notice that even when scalled in Daz Studio, it reverts to the original size before export
2. How can I bring in the facial morphs to Maya ? Seems onlu the JCMs export.
3. I have the daz to maya plugin too seems not to be working with Maya 2019 because I cant export to maya again. Is there a fix for this anytime soon ?
Regards,
