stuttering daz?

build the model in the picture below a couple years ago.. did the render
---
added a block with lights .. did the render
--
added characters vehicles etc  did the render.
---
opened the base file with just the building and it sat there and acting like it was maxing out the computer memory .. literally window fading in and out and it looked like it was trying to open a render .. for one second a ghost of the daz icon in the top bar would fade in and then out in sync with the in and out of the window.
--
daz is limted to 60% of the cpu. (dual xeons) we're at 16g of ram total usage including the system at 5g out of 64...
---
so I opened just the building that was causing the issue and by itself it's fine.. put it in with others and we start the in and out stuff
---
the building is nothing but daz primitives
----
on the off hand chance that my copy of 4.9 had decided to become corrupted I stalled 4.10 same problems
---
the problem appeared to start when I opened the scene file (as in the first pic) but the single shot later is from the file that was added to that big picture
has something corrupted the original?
Which bids the question .. is it possible to make daz copy everything into a new save as opposed to links?
---
is there any logical reason this should be happening...  timewise dumping that building will be a lot of work down the tubes
---
doesn't happen in picture 5 with just the single building but when I add it to picture 6 with different buildings (than in the first set) it starts the blinking again.
---
it's loaded in as a scene subset as is the other items in the scene
---
*it's hard to figure it's the processors and memory in any way because I used to do scenes that took 16g of ram on my 920 with only 24g of ram
---
thanks

the building was actually three buildings grouped .. so I unparented them and saved them separately as scene subsets
    ---
merged one and two with no problem but adding the third starts the problem again...
    ---
now to find out if it's the third building itself or just a extra number of objects (which again doesn't make sense because the total is far short of what I'v had in scenes.
And I just realized that the third building is identical to the second and is a clone done by duplicating the hierarchy ... hmm

  • at this point it looks like something I did in 4.7 or 8 when I created these became unsupported in 9 and 10...
    ---
back when the change from 5 to 6 happened ..  something that I did in 5 would crash 6 any time I opened it .. until I located the bad "object" and removed it from the scene file then 6 would open it..
    ---
this time is not quite as bad.. I just have to figure which one on the 50 parts in the building daz doesn't like anymore.
    ---
but I have learned one thing..  all the jerkiness etc that I thought was my old i7-920  is back with the dual xeons.. hmm, maybe not my machine
