Even if you decide to just go to Rendo, DAZ does actively recruit, so if they like it they may contact you.

    Okie dokie :)

That's right, I forgot about that!

It took me a little while to get to the point of having a good enough machine and enough rendering expertise to do promos that were DAZ-quality - I was making a good product long before I could make a good render, and consequently I submitted two or three things to them and was rejected before Marieah took me under her wing.

So if you do get to the point of wanting to offer something to DAZ, and you ever want some help with your lighting/rendering settings, I'll be happy to pay it forward. There are many who are more expert than I am, but I do generate results that DAZ regularly accepts. ;)

    Thank you very much :)
Yes, machine specs can make a real difference. I only upgraded a year ago though, so unless by some miracle my characters make me a lot of money quickly I'll have to wait :p

DAZ may be a tough place for a new developer starting out.
Their testing can be kind of disheartening at times...so if you are easily discouraged, it might be worth honing your skills (and a thick skin) through other sites like rosity. I think most of us started there..and only when we felt confident enough moved over to daz.

That's encouraging feedback. I'm trying to get started as a content producer and I was feeling a bit...inadequate, because I'd decided this was probably going to be my strategy.

This has been a great thread! Thank you!

Are you allowed to post images of a product you're working on if it hasn't been released anywhere or even if it's under consideration?

As I understand it, yes, right up until another site accepts it for testing. We are not allowed to post threads for commercial products found elsewhere than the DAZ store.

If it is definitely a projected Commercial product and stated as such, then the answer is no, not unless you intend to offer it to DAZ 3D as a first choice of brokering partner.

Please note bullet point #9 of the DAZ 3D Forum TOS, Commercial Advertising rules

9.) Threads that constitute a Work in Progress for a commercial product count as Commercial threads.

If it is just WIPS to see what other people think of it, without any consideration of the Commercial possibilities than it would be allowed.

Thanks for the replies, everyone, and I'm glad this thread has helped out a couple of other people looking into selling products too :)
