Selecting Mac and PC downloads

Hi, I just bought a load of new goodies from the Daz Store (YAY!), however since my last visit there seems to have been a change in the way things are downloaded.

A little background to the issue:
I use poser on my PC. (this has a crappy internet connection)
I buy stuff on my Mac (mainly because it has a much better internet connection).

The issue now is that where I used to be able to select Mac or PC download then install it on the PC, the store now "cleverly" decides that I am using a mac and automatically selects the mac version for me and downloads it as a zip file and not an exe file.

I'm probably missing something obvious but is there any way around this or are we a slave to websites that are too smart for their own good now?

No I do not want the Daz install manager, I have my own filing system and really do not want an automated programme messing it up for me.

Cheers
Gonzo

Almost all content is in plain zips now, they are aren't Mac installers in zips. Just download (directly or with the Install Manager, which will let you get update notifications if you keep the zip or install to an empty folder and then delete the content from your Mac), transfer to your Windows machine and unzip or install with DIM (if you use DIM to install to a temporary location the net result will be the same as unzipping or using one of the old installers) - the only issue with plain unzipping is that you get an extra Content folder containing the files, but if you are manually rearranging stuff anyway that's a minor issue.

DAZ 3D have moved to all ZIP files, so there is no longer a Mac and PC version.

The EXE installers for Windows are being phased out completely from the 15th May this year, and only ZIP files are available which can be used for either PC or Mac. There is no smart software being used, you will get exactly the same options on a PC or Mac.

OK, personally I liked the .exe's but whatever - I'll install it all manually, at least I know its not some horrid auto detect thing happening

    Thanks :D

The manual installation shouldn't be too difficult on Windows. I think win xp and up allows you to open a .zip file without extracting. What I do with the IM zips (or rather what I used to do before Install Manager) was open the .zip file in a browser. The structure is thus product.zip/Content/Runtime (since you are a poser user, there may be other folders in the Content folder depending on the product). I will have my desired install location open in another Explorer window. All you have to do is drag the Runtime folder over to the same level as your existing runtime so that the two folders merge. Make sure you don't nest the runtimes. Allow everything to merge and you should be good.

Also if it's been a while since you've purchased content welcome back. We're glad to have you :-)
