Having issue with Daz3d install manager content

My old computer failed and I took hard drive and copied to hard drive of my new computer. Most content is working OK but I am having an issue with some of my DIM content. For example Perrin hair is no longer working. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but get a "could not open file" error. I've tried to configure everything to go to the D drive but for some reason it is not working. I've tried looking at forums for solution but I don't know what i am doing wrong. I've attached screen shots of the content. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't think you are supposed to install files with DIM into the Daz Connect Library. Daz Connect Library is for files installed from within Daz Studio, not DIM. I don't know whether that is the source of your problem. What is the source of the content in all those other librarys you have linked in the Content Directory Manager?

No, but since the folder has beena dded as a regular Daz Studio content directory it should work even if it isn't the standard set-up.

One thing to check is that DS doesn'tt hink there's a non-existant Connect install. If you find the item in the Products tab of Smart Content (find the product itself, don't open it to see the files) and right-click on it does the emnu offer Install or Uninstall?

  • OK - I think part of my problem is that I thought DIM and DAZ Connect were one and the same and configured my directories as such. I don't recall whether I orignally installed the product via DAZ connect, as I have generally installed connect manually or via DIM. I originally installed most content manually until I figured out DIM was easier. That may explain why only a small portion of my content isn't working, maybe it is the content I installed via DAZ connect at one time or another.

Is there a general preferred way to install? DIM or DAZ Connect?

If I select the content via Smart Content / Product it gives the option to uninstall. It also seems to state it was installed via DAZ Connect.

However when I attempted to uninstall and re-install I did so via DIM. Is this what is confusing it? I attached a screen shot.

Thank you both so much for the quick response.

  • OK I uninstalled via the right click and I reinstalled via DIM (as most of my other content is installed via DIM). It works for the Perrin hair! I will try that with the other content that isn't working. Thank you so much!

Good news. You have a better understanding of the installation options now.
