Relight Support and Tips 'n' Tricks thread
Hi there. My "Relight" set will be hitting the store soon, and since it might be a bit of an abstract notion, i thought i would simplify it in this thread and show you how to make the most of it. Relight is a pretty simple lighting utility, designed to add light back to both LDRI and HDRI images. Instead of simply adding mesh lights to a HDRI scene though, Relight takes an extra step in sampling the 360 image you provide and re-project that color information back into the scene using a diffuse light dome. This is especially useful in the case of LDRI images that require contrast tweaks in order to look correct. Relight is a great solution for people who have 360 cameras or even take photosphere's on their smart phone. There is already a tutorial included with this set, so if you require further assistance or would like to know more about the set, please let me know.
I'm sure most of you purchasing the set probably know where you're getting your 360's from, you might even be taking them yourself on your phone perhaps? Otherwise you can get them via generic image searches, Pixabay (royalty free), or there is a program that stitches and downloads spheres from streetview. Because of their abundance, the licensing for LDRI's is all over the place, just like regular images, so tread with caution if you're working commercially and using copyrighted content.
Here's a sample of how relight handles LDRI images -

Great product.....Idea of tips invaluable.
Best of luck!!
I've recently purchased RELIGHT from the Daz store. Since trying it out, I have found myself being unable to use its Environmental Intensity settings. I am using a HDR light, which I purchased as well from the Daz store. I loaded just RL Relight. And tried to use the Environmental Intensity presets. I made sure that RL Environment was selected in the scene tab. But each time I changed from low to high intensity, nothing changed, when the figure was rendered. I checked out its surface settings (RL Environment > Light > Emission) to see that the Luminance had altered, which it had done so (Low Intensity 500) (high intensity 1500). With these changes in luminance, you would expect some change in the lighting of the figure in the scene. I also did as you suggested in the PDF file " you now need to load your LDRI into both the “Environment map” section of the render tab, and the LDR/HDR input of the “RL Environment” surfaces settings".
The Environment Moce is set the Dome Only ot Dome and Scene?
Okay, what time is it in UK? Not enough coffee? or is it last orders? Or do we just need to club together to buy you a new keyboard?*
*Please don't take me seriously. I'm not having a go. Just having a laff ;)
The time in the UK is 10.18. I had to sleep after posting my query. Thanks for replying so quickly. I will try what you suggest and let you know the outcome! :)
I'm really excited about this product and would love it to work. This time I used the instructions from the PDF, with the original presets.
If you are using a low dynamic range image, there are three required steps to use Relight. First you must apply the “RL Relight Tonemapping” and “RL Example Environment Settings” presets in your main Relight folder. . Now you must select “RL Relight” in the main Relight folder, which will load “RL Environment” and additional photometric lights. Once all elements are in your scene, you now need to load your LDRI into both the “Environment map” section of the render tab, and the LDR/HDR input of the “RL Environment” surfaces settings.
I did not add any additional lights as I thought this might complicate things.
Here are the screen shots, which are self explanatory:
