Daz can not find Genesis2Female.dsf

edited December 1969 in Daz Studio Discussion

I have looked at the install manager and its placing the file in:
Users/Shared/My DAZ 3D Library/data/DAZ 3D/Genesis2/Female/Genesis2Female.dsf

DAZ seems to look for the file in:

/data/DAZ 3D/Genesis 2/Female/Genesis2Female.dsf

So of course it can't find it.

Is there any resolution to this problem?

This makes the Genesis 2 useless.

Are you sure it's Genesis 2 it's looking for? That has never had the user files in .dsf format. if the problem is the content location, open the Content Library pane, right-click on DAZ Studio Formats and select Add DAZ Studio Content Directory, then select Users/Shared/My DAZ 3D Library/ (although I think you will find Shared should be Public). If it's the Genesis.dsf file it can't find, go to Edit>Preferences>Start-up, click the entry for the Load File, select Browse and find the figure file you want to load - \People\Genesis\Genesis.duf or People\Genesis 2 Female\Genesis 2 female.duf.

/Users/Shared/My DAZ 3D Library/data/DAZ 3D/Genesis2/Female/Genesis2Female.dsf is the full path to it
/Users/Shared/My DAZ 3D Library is what your set in the content directory configuration as your content "home".
/data/DAZ 3D/Genesis 2/Female/Genesis2Female.dsf is when DS looks for it, under content "home".

If your content "home" points to something else than /Users/Shared/My DAZ 3D Library DS wont find it.

G2F's data files are in *.dsf format. My Library folder can confirm, as can DIM's installed files listing for G2F Starter Essentials.

Her user facing files under People\Genesis 2 Female, however, are in *.duf.

Yes, but the user file as you say is in .duf format - I was looking at the second file listed in the psot, and thinking that Genesis 1 is the default auto-load.

That second file the OP listed is in the /data folder, so it's not a user file.

Can you go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager, expand the "DAZ Studio Formats" and "Poser Formats" sections, and post a screenshot?.

Yeah what the heck none of any of my figures work, I try to click on any figure and i get something like this, cant find data/daz3d/genisis2/female/genisis2female.dsf (its not just gen2 female its all of them!. That file I found in Libraries/Documents/My Daz 3D Library/data/daz3d/genisis 2/female had genisis2female.dsf , Its also in the original downloaded zip file found at Libraries/Documents/daz3d/installmanager/downloads. So what the hells going on here? I downloaded the stupid install manager then downloaded all the crap and installed it, then I opened the program and no genisis figure appeared at start up, and no other figure works they plop in all weird and blocky and give me that missing dsf message. Please help this program looked fun, but Im not very impressed so far, I could have already made my own character in zbrush with all the time I've already wasted on this. Thanks in advance

This is probably a OS thing. My W7 doesn't have the folders you are quoting. There is no users/shared/

In Win7 it would be Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library (if you use the DIM default location).

    Hi there,
I have also the problem with the missing file Genesis2Female.dsf. Despite an intensive search, this file does not exist on my PC. Where you get fro this file? Or in what program it is included?

    Thank you for your help

  • For those like me that this problem just popped back in to your life. the path should point to data/DAZ 3D/Genesis 2/Female/Genesis2Female.dsf  in your library folder

    NOT  /data/DAZ 3D/Genesis 2/Female/Genesis2Female.dsf

I still cant get this to fix ....... any solutions?

And I almost spen the money to get carrara .......

99% of the cases, you have multiple Library folders and not the same setup in DIM and in DS. Please check the paths in DS and in DIM, do the correspond? Rightclick in DIM on the item and you will see the full path to where is is installed.
