Instant crash when changing scene identifier to G3F

I use 54.10.0.123. Following tutorials by Sickle Yield and others I'm trying to use a piece of clothing designed for G8F on G3F. I use this piece regularly and would like to save it as a preset for G3F.

But when I go to change the Scene Identifier, I open the preferred base window and it's blank -- I understand this can happen if I manually install stuff and don't use Smart Content or DIM. There's an icon in the window to add a new base, and I enter Genesis 3/Female, thinking this is the correct format to use.

When I click OK, D|S instantly crashes to the Please Wait... message, and then closes after the crash dump is completed. Is this a known problem? Am I using he feature incorrectly. Anything I can do about?
