Some weird search bug

I was messing about with the colors of the layout and decided to reset and while doing it I notice you could mess with the layout so I switched between the layouts. In doing so it seems most of the things I had installed are no longer installed, even when I sort them by most recent however some things do show up that are recent. The search though returns only minor things. I dunno what I did..... I wonder if it reset my link to my folders.

Yep, I dunno what happened but I cannot search for what I had before screwing with the layout presets. I scan nothing, I scan all my drives nothing, refresh restart etc. Seems messing with layouts is a bad thing. Leave it to me to break it.
In smart content tab a lot of my subcategories I made also disappeared but in the content library, it still exists. Also, all files for some reason has gone down in numbers instead of up. You may want to put a warning message on this thing called layout. It seems to be a real pain in the arse and I have no clue how to fix this mess. I have tried everything but things refuse to come back.
One other note. The character I reopened kept her outfit despite it no longer existing in all files per se.
Different scenes I open that I previously made gives me different results in the all files section. This may help or may not. It seems odd. I mean if it only gave me what was in the scene for all files it would make sense then. If that happened it may would suggest a button that hides unused or something but they seem random.
In scan results under the content library tab, my stuff is there. I would say no issue but one folder is like 5 folders deep to find the wrong thing. If it is there then there should be a way to fix it to work in the smart content tab.
I know there are many posts here but I am reporting my finds as I go. I figure it would help people narrow it down.
I cleared out everything figured a refresh might do it but it seems to only work partially. Maybe it will work not sure. Annoying though.
Nothing has changed. Besides me clean sweeping what I already had. Albeit scanned results show everything that should be in the smart content area.
Changing Layout won't affect the content, other than the current content directory shown in the Content Library pane. I'm not clear on exactly what is happening - if you go to the Content Library pane and look under Daz Studio Formats and Poser Formats do you still see the usual selection of content dirctories? Can you find the "missing" files there?

I changed the layout many times. The directory etc is still there selected and everything but in the smart content area, most items are gone. I clean swept it where there was nothing there and try rescanning but it really didn't get everything back either. The scan folder under content tab though has everything per se. Just digging through it and each on being 5 folders deep would make it really hard to make things work like it would from the smart content director. If it exists in the smart content directory then I no longer can search for it. If I cannot search for it I cannot get it since I downloaded a lot of freebies and the scroll wheel only goes so far before it gives up. Searching was the only option to find everything. Changing the Layout may should not have done anything but it screwed everything up.
Rather than scanning, have you tried reimporting metadata? Content Library option menu (the lned button in the top corner, or right-click the tab)>Content DB Maintenance, check Reimport Metadata, check al in the next dialogue.
I used it to clear everything out but did not click the other button or I did and it didn't work. It seems to have work question how do I reimport the folders and such since when I cleared it, it asked me if I wish to export everything just in case things go awry. I really wish to not go through the hell of reorganizing everything. Also seriously someone needs to figure out the issue with the layout doing this it is terrifying.
One final question since everything comes in as new and only is found in all is there a way to just mash a button and have all the figures clothes etc sort themselves as if you installed it automatically? Just curious. Wait reimporting metadata did that holy crap that is awesome. Okay, this definitely needs to be put somewhere where people know about it. Maybe it is in the help menu thingy and I did not know it. This organization will suffice actually. Things are actually better than before it seems.

I found the issue some I did not break up and I just put the whole folder in it it registered the old way but not this way. I got a bit of work to do.
