Volta Support?

Anyone know if Daz supports Volta yet or if not do they have any plan to do so in the future?

According to the docs with the latest beta from last month :

    • Iray is now CUDA 9 based to allow for compute version 7.x (Volta generation) support.

Check the thread in the DAZ Studio discussion.

Interesting... :)  I have the option of a 'relatively' affordable Titan-V but would be interested if anyone has any benchmarks against a 1080ti?

There's an Iray benchmark here, which seems to indicate the Titan V might be something like twice as fast as a 1080ti for Iray, at around 3.8 times the cost ($3,000?? Wow).

So I'm guessing that you'd have to find a TItan V at an INSANE discount, or have your head examined, if you even consider it for Iray** laugh

By the way, those results don't necessarily mean you'll get the same in Studio/Iray/CUDA as it stands now, depending on the particulars of different version numbers and implementations, etc. But it might be a reasonable ballpark.

I think I saw some Studio users say they have a Titan V eariler this year and were disappointed they couldn't use it with Studio. So maybe we can get some actual results with this beta.

** By the way, that was a joke, not intended to offend anyone who may or may not be considering purchasing a Titan V either now or in the future.

  • Twice as fast is much better than the normal 30% performance increase you see between te Nvidia cards, but you're right not worth the price.  For the same price I could slot in 3x Titan Xp cards.  Oh well, was worth a look.
