Measure Metrics just disappeared!

I've used Measure Metrics for quite a while, but something strange just happened.

Normally it's in the Utilities folder of the Smart Content, but it's icon/folder has disappeared.  The Measure Metrics tab is still available, and I've even uninstalled and reinstalled from the DIM.

I see no pending installs in the Smart Content, and I've checked and my registration is valid in the "About the Plugins" section...

And I've searched in the Smart Content, and it's just simply not there (Searched by "Metrics").  And I've checked and Filtering is turned off, and I did not have any other keywords in the search field.

Can anyone make a suggestion on how to resolve this?

The Measure Metrics content is being found by the Content Library, but I prefer to use the Smart Content functionality?  What happened, and how do I restore it to the Smart Content?

  • I think you mean the Figure Metrics product, not Measure Metrics itself. Try uninstalling and reinstalling that (I think it has its own entry).

  • What's this Figure Metrics?

    https://www.daz3d.com/measure-metrics-for-daz-studio

I do not see a Figure Metrics option in the store...

  • Correction.  The Figure Metrics script is part of the Measure Metrics package.  I just never looked at it's name.

I ended up having to completely rebuild my CMS Smart Database and it's there again...  Frustrating...

What I ended up having to do was to reset my CMS Database from inside Daz3d, and then have it rebuild.  It took 15-20 minutes, but it was there afterwards...

This has happened to me multiple times. How do you reset the CMS database?

I wrote up a small PDF covering the steps, along with process for optimizing the Smart Content / CMS database.  Let me know if you have any issues...

And I just found the "Attach a file" option...  So, I attached it as well.

Mine has disappeared, too. I did the DB reset, and when I went to reimport the metadata, MM doesn't appear on the list of available packages (16686). So I went into DIM and tried redownloading MM and FM, and reinstalling them, and this is what results:  no known install size, no check mark as being installed, but it doesn't report the installation as having failed. I have no tab or pane for MM, nothing to be found under Utilities or Scripts - just ... nothing.

Was DS running when you installed Measure Metrics? If so the files will be in use and WIndows won't be able to replace them, which can cause the size to be invalid (I thin restarting DS will allow the files to update, but that may not help with DIM's record.) Folder permissions can also cuase this to happen.

The content won't usually appear immediately in DS if it's runing during install, you will need to Refresh the list (via right-click on the container) to see the new files.

I don't know how many times I have forgotten to close Studio when updating plugins. It never seems to work properly in that case, and uninstalling the plugin to try again just sits there uninstalling ...nothing. I have to refresh DIM to get the product to re-appear in the "Ready to Install" tab after shutting down Studio.

OK, I've uninstalled and reinstalled MM, reset the database, and still don't have a pane/tab for it. I have Measure Metrics in my Content Library, under People>Genesis[x], and I can add the 'wearables' to the figures, but that's it.

  • The items in the library are from Figure Metrics, not Measure Metrics. Is measure Metrics listed in Help>About Installed Plug-ins?

So with 2 packages, one titled "Figure Metrics" and one titled "Measure Metrics," I'm to understand the ones ACTUALLY CALLED MEASURE METRICS in the Content Library are really 'Figure Metrics?' Does anyone QA or test any of these products? In the meantime, I've uninstalled, redownloaded and reinstalled the Measure Metrics (is it really?) package, which in my order library is titled "Measure Metrics for DAZ Studio 4.10+ (Win 64-bit)", into my D|S, which under Help>About says "Version 4.10.0.107 Pro Edition (64-bit)", and in About Installed Plug-ins, under "dzmeasuremetrics", it shows it as "failed to install" and the reason is "Plug-in was made for a newer version of DAZ Studio."

WTH? This, all of this contradiction and inconsistency, is why so many people get frustrated with this application. Why this thread exists. Why users have to fix software they paid for so it will run.

  • No, Figure Metrics is the scripts and poses, Measure Metrics is the plug-in they use. The Measure Metrics package (with the bit and OS version) is the plug-in. The curent release buidl of DS is 4.10.0.123, so that is your issue - you need to get the new version of DS to use the plug-in.

Measure Metrics worked before. Now it doesn't, and it's because my D|S version is out of date. That's going to take some splainin', Lucy.

  • Presumably you downloaded an update for Measure Metrics (to support DS 4.10.0.123) but didn't update DS. If you hae a back up copy of the old installer you can place that in DIM's Downloads folder and, with DIM working offline, install it over the newer version.

Just to be clear: I'm running Studio 4.11, but didn't purchase Measure Metrics until after 4.12 came out. Tried installing it with both DIM and manually, and the install proceeded normally, as far as I could tell, but there's no Measure Metrics pane and nothing in "Help > About installed plugins." So the issue is that Mesure Metrics is tied to the version of Studio in the way that the Optitex plugin used to be, so that I can't run the current version of the plugin with anything but the current version of the program? Studio can't even see the plugin to say, "Hey, that version won't work with this version of studio"?

Same happened to me. Haven't updated to 4.12 yet, but Measure Metrics is for DAZ Studio 4.12+. For me, in "About Installed Plugins" there is a warning (red plug) and a message in the pane at the bottom stating that the plugin was made for a different version of Studio. Was Studio running at the time? I always shut it down to install plugins, then restart.

No, Studio wasn't running. And it turns out there is a message; I didn't catch it at first because the plugin wasn't where I was expecting it in the list. I expect if it had been able to load, it would be in the M section; since it can't (which means that Studio can't read its metadata to know what it is), it's under the file name dzmeasuremetrics.dll, and there's a message about it being made for a different version, like you said.

Eh. Not a huge deal, at the moment. I haven't heard much about 4.12 that makes me want to deal with it right now, and I don't need Measure Metrics that urgently.

    @vwrangler

Measure Metrics works in both 4.11 and 4.12. Measure Metrics has (had) a serial number. Did you register it inside of Studio (about plugins?)

  • NorthOf45NorthOf45 Posts: 5,547

The current version of Measure Metrics is for Studio 4.12+, so it cannot be used with 4.11 (fails to load). Didn't have it before, so, it cannot be registered, yet. As he said, though, no urgent need.
