Can't render with Nvidia 1060GTX

Greetings, I have a Dell Inspiron 15.4" with an Intel I5 7th generation, eight gigs of RAM and Nvidia 1060 gtx. I am having trouble rendering and commonly either the laptop crashes or I get an error saying that it cannot render.
Not exactly sure what's going on but if anybody can be of help I would appreciate it.
Thanks

I'd start with a very small scene - maybe create a primitive, add an iray shader and then render with CPU only using the iray renderer (in Render Settings > Advanced, tick only the CPU). If that works, try again with the same scene but this time tick only the 1060 in Render Settings. Then try adding Optix Prime Acceleration.
With a small scene you can at least narrow down the problem to iray, lack of memory on the GPU, nvidia drivers etc.
THat was done on an AMD 8320 CPU with 20GB ram and GTX1060 3GB card. So you can for sure. Make sure your GPU drivers are up do date. If you want ill send you my DAZ render settings which will help you a lot trust me on this. I am currently making my own VN and been doing this for a while. Im not the best for sure but i had to tweak my DAZ render settings so my pc can produce decent looking renders. Below is one of the first renders for the game but it's possible do to on your rig.
