about Daz 2.3 on new ish laptop

grylingrylin Posts: 278

So, i have a question: i am wanting to try DS 2.3 on my packard bell laptop , but i know that my characters will be transparent in my daz studio Bfore rendering them. (iv'e had this issue before ) . I have Intel

I am wondering how i can work around it? Because i want to continue making free faces for the V4/ m4 characters for those who still use them. my 8 yr old laptop wont be in use anymore .. until i get a SSD and new fan for it. so in the meantime, my slightly less older Packard is in use :)

p.s. i really can't afford a new 800 dollar laptop yet, until october and i wish the old  inj/rem  tool was upgraded for ds 4.10 :)  i love that  for my facemorphs  and i guess i'm the kind of person who  likes to stick to what i know.lol

  • Do you mean an Intel GPU? What Inj/Rem tool are you wanting to use?

the INJ/REM export tool for older version of daz studio. i can't find a link for it right now, and yes :)

  • Well, assumng you done the full round of driver updates you might try using a really basic material set up, though I don't think the older figures load with anything particulary fancy in the first pace.

Hmmm, DS 2.3?  Is it still available?  Do you want to use it for a specific plugin that never got updated to 3 or 4.10?

Is it possible to run DS 2..3, DS 3, and DS4.11 on the same computer?

I don't believe you can still buy DS2.3 in the store, but if you did buy it then the installers are still available in your Product Library.

And yes you should be able to run DS 2.3 , 3.x and 4.x on the same computer - I have them all installed on my laptop (though rarely use them - I just run 4.10 on my desktop PC)

Actually Miss Bad Wolf, you can run different versions of DS.  You can also have multiple versions of 4.10, the latter is as easy as copying the studio 4 folder and making a copy, its nice since if your vid card(s) are up to it you can have 1 ore more versions of DS 4.10 open, one for staging and the other for rendering or rigging etc. etc. all at the same time and they share the same content directory if you want them to by default.

Do bear in mind that this si not supported, and that since the different versions (assuming they are from the same release channel) sahre settings and temp folders there is the potential for coflicts causing undesirable behaviour. You can run the release and public beta together safely.

  • Yes, full versions (2, 3, 4) can be run alongside each other, as beta and release can.
