Figures and licensing for gamming purposes.

Is there any kind of license or other arrangement that is available for a game developer to use a figure, in the game as a base component? Say you want to use a Genesis figure in your game and the basis for your male and female characters used by the gamers themsevles. They pick the gender and then modify the morphs that they want to define their character and then use that character as their avatar in the game.

I am new to all of this and am curious if this is possible and where would I find that information.

I see how DAZ is claimed to be used in motion pictures and wondered how this might apply to gamming.

I recently read where this was done with Renderosity and an online VR platform.

Thanks.

Interactive licenses for all products which are available for licensing are on each individual store page

    For example    https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-3-starter-essentials

    Optional License Add-Ons:

Click on the tick box and the cart button will change allowing you to purchase the interactive license

    Thank you for that information.

I seem to remember that there was an offering to use the Genesis body mesh (this might have been along with other products) in a game or some such offering of $5,000.00 per 100,000 users.

This was part of a pro-rated license offered as I recall.

Can anyone point me to that?

I know I saw and read this but I cannot remember when or where I found it, but I am certain it was on this site.

    Thanks. smiley

That was when they did licenses by vendor. I believe they dropped that model of licensing in favor of the per item model. If you still have an old license and haven't used it, it is still good, but I don't think you can buy them that way anymore.

    Thank you for that information.

Does anyone know if this new method would extend to a DAZ product such as a figure like V4 or V5?

    Thanks

There used to be Pro and Indie game Develper Licenses  which covered a given PA's whole store (how many items could be used varied from license to license). As I recall the Indie was about $500 and the Pro about $2,000. Those are no longer available, though any that were purchased remain valid (if the number of items allowed has not yet been used).

Thanks for that information. It helps.  Pardon my ignorance but what is "PA"?

    Thanks.

Published Artist.   It's what Daz 3d calls it's brokered vendors.
