Render Spot problem

When I use Render Spot, sometimes the render appears white or with false colors (for example, as if the color blue were missing).. Does anyone know why this is happening?

  • Iray or 3Delight? I have had some weird things happen to 3delight full renders when memory was getting tight, or fragmented, or similar - geenrally after a session of a lot of applying diffrent materials and rendering them.

My problem is with Iray. This is a specific area when using Render Spot. When I do the full render everything is ok.

I've discovered that the problem is caused by an emissive material. Any more suggestions?

Spot Render has always been a little hit or miss for me. That's why I usually prefer to use the Aux Viewport, setup the view with the part I want to see, and change it to Iray. It may just be my perception and not reality, but I've always felt like Spot Render may cull things that it doesn't "think" contribute to the scene. So I might miss a shadow or a light source because Studio thinks that isn't interacting with the part of the scene I'm rendering. On the other hand, the Aux Viewport is much more like how Iray will really render the scene.

  • Spot render should be the same as regular render, so I'm not sure. Is it possible for you to post examples images, within the forum ToS?

Ok, I don't know what the ToS forum is, but here's an image. This is a scene from Urban Future 5.  The street bollards have an emitting surface that simulates a light (red circles). When you render the whole scene everything is ok, but when you use Spot Render and render the area of the bollards where the emissive "light" is included, the render does not work well and the result is all white or with false colors.

  • I just did a quick test, using an emissive cylinder on a palne, and it worked in both Spot and direct render. I don't hae the urban Future set to test, so could you try a similar set up - create a 1m plane and a 1m tall byt 0.2m diameter cylinder, select the cylinder and its surface, apply the Iray Emissive preset, and render with Scene only mode - are the spot and the full render the same or do you still see a difference?

When I test the set that you tell me everything works well, both full render and spot render. But that's not my problem, my problem is not with an emissive material in isolated conditions. My problem is with a specific product that Daz3d sells. Maybe for some reason the product has a design error that I don't know what it is or maybe Spot Render doesn't work well in certain circumstances. The truth is that with this product Spot Render don't work well in the area of the emissive material.

  • Yes, I was expecting it would work - I just wanted to make sure there wasn't some general issue affecting your system. Since I don't have the set I can't really do any more testing, so you may need to open a Techncial Support ticket.
