Smart Content Issues

I've been a huge fan of Smart content since I started using it and it's never caused issues before, but over the last month it feels like my smart content has been getting buddier and buggier. I'm not 100% sure but it seems that the products in the Lost and Found tab have been slowly increasing. Looking right now about a third of my total products are now in there and there is stuff I KNOW wasn't in there a few weeks ago. Also, the last couple of times I've bought stuff about half of it hasn't shown up in my Available pane. And most of the stuff not showing up isn't registered as purchased when I go to the story via the smart content pane and look up the product. I've had to manually download or use DIM to download the item and only THEN does it show up in the smart content pane.

Any idea what could be going on or how to fix it?

Also, maybe related, I realized yesterday that all of the products I've downloaded are sitting in theroaming file folder and not in My Daz folder. I'm worried part of this is because I have the software on drive c but all the downloaded content on drive D (my C drive just isn't big enough for everything). Do I maybe need to just delete and reinstall everything?

  • By roaming folder do you mean the C:/Users/YOU/AppData/Roaming/Daz 3D folder? No content should usually be going there, check your install paths in DIM (gear icon then Installation tab) and the content directory set up in DS (Edit>Preferences>Content tab>Content Directory Manager)

  • Yeah, it looks like it's all going to the wrong place. Where SHOULD it be going? I assume "Daz 3d > Studio >" but after that I'm not sure whether I should choose "My Daz Connect Library" or "My Library"? I put all the third party stuff I use into "My Library".

Once I do get it set up so its going to the right place what's the best way to fix it? Delete everything in smart content and redownload, or is there a way to migrate it all to the proper location after I have it set up?

  • My Library would be the default for local saves, and is suggested (where possible) for third-party content (that not installed via DIM). My Daz Connect Library is the default used by Connect, the instalaltion system inside DS. The My daz 3d Library folder in Public Documents is the default for Install Manager.

  • I REALLY appreciate you helping me with this. I'm decent at using the program itself, but the technical side of it is still really overhwleming.

I'm thinking I still don't quite have stuff set up right. I think the biggest issue is my C drive isn't big enough for all my Daz stuff, so I've tried to have the program installed there but all the files on my D drive. The file I attached shows how my content directy is currently set up in Daz Studio. Does that all look right to you?

As for DIM, can I pont it to those folders on the D drive? Or will pointing them to the public documents on my C drive keep those files there?

Also, a general question: what should I be downloading my content through? I haven't really used DIM in ages and as of right now it's showing that I only have like 3 products installed while content manager shows I have hundreds.

  • You don't need the My Daz Connect Library under the daz Studio Formats/Poser Formats headings, unless you've installed content there manually or through DIM. You do need the folder DIM installs to sekected for both, though. Your folders don't actually have to be called My Library etc. - those are merely the default names.

Fourth generation content (Victoria 4 etc.), at least for the various ExP morph expansions, can't be installed through Connect at this time; other than that you can use whichever method suits you.
