My 'Texture Shaded' viewport went dark and I can't figure out how to restore it [Solved]

After more than a year of playing with DS, this is a new one on me. Today, just for the heck of it, I loaded one of the tutorial scenes (Ready to Render - Fiery Genesis 2). Since then, my Texture Shaded viewport has been 17 shades darker than it used to be. Can't see a doggone thing.
The Iray viewport works as usual (see the Aux Viewport in the attached screenshot), but I do nearly all my scene creation & fiddling in Texture Shaded mode and would really like to have it back to normal.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
[ edit/solution: It finally occurred to me to load another prefabbed scene (I chose the beach thing) in the hope it would restore the viewport, and waddya know? It worked. ]

There are a couple of settings in Edit>Preferences>Interface tab (Daz Studio>Preferences>Interface on a Mac) that might be relevant, Per Pixel Shading and Backface Lighting
Thanks, I'll check them out.
I have the same problem. When I switch to a different view setting (Wireframe; Hidden line; iRay: or any choice) to check the scene and then return to Textured Shaded, the image is always DARKER. So far the only way I find to fix it is to go and select my saved Workspace. Then the View returns to the Lighted Perspective view and looks fine.
The settings that Richard talks about all check out.
Puzziling.
