What is "V4.2 to V3" (I think it came with 4.2)

I'm assuming the "V4.2 to V3" option in 'DAZ People'--which I have installed in P6--is a sort of conversion-backward thing.

I got some freebies that will work with v3, but don't own v3.

I've not had any success using it--P6 keeps looking for files.

Do I need v3 base, or not...? :)

    Yes, that lets you put V3 clothing on a figure with V4's head. If you want to use morphs on it, you need to go to ":Runtime:Libraries:!DAZ" and execute DzCreateExPFiles-V4V3.bat (.command on Mac) to initialize the morphs.

    Is P6 giving error messages for files not found, or is it just taking forever to load? For P6, you need to have V4 installed to the internal runtime, which if you're using Windows Vista/7/8 means you need to install P6 outside of Program Files/Program Files (x86).

    V4.2 to V3 is a rather useless figure morph and rigging conversion of V4.2 to allow V3 clothing to fit. It is rather useless because it can't take any of V4.2 or V3 body morphs, it is permanently stuck in the V3 body shape but with V4.2 head shaping ability.

    Edit to add: DAZ finally realized how useless these new figure to old figure conversions where as they didn't bother to have one with M4.

    These things come from the day when all the software to convert clothing from one figure to another didn't work very well or took a lot of skill & work.

    And they're kind of meaningless in the days of genesis anyway.

    I only found this old thread by chance after a long absence here...

    Just for the sake of curiosity and the odd Mac user who might find this thread:

    This file is broken on Mac for ages and DAZ never bothered to fix it. I told it three times on the bug tracker and several times here, but to no avail. In a nutshell: Don't even try to run it as it is, because it will create nothing but error messages on the terminal.

    You need to open the file DzCreateExPFiles-V4V3.command with a text editor and exchange the content. The (broken) original content is:

    #!/bin/bash
    sudo DzCreateExPFiles.app/Contents/MacOS/DzCreateExPFiles “V4toV3” “V4toV3”
    exit

    This can't work, under any circumstances... You must replace it with this:

    #!/bin/bash
    cd “$(dirname “$0”)”
    ./DzCreateExPFiles.app/Contents/MacOS/DzCreateExPFiles “V4toV3” “V4toV3”
    exit

    Why nobody at the tech support ever bothered to do it on their distributed files is beyond my imagination...
