Dynamic Clothing Control for older versions of DAZ (DS 4.9)

Hello -

I am reverting back to DS 4.9 (Power Pose is my most used tool and the version in 4.10 sucks). The folks at DAZ have very helpfully made the old version of Dynamic Clothing Control unavailable. Is there anyone here who can tell me how to get a version that will work in 4.9?

If it helps, I still have 4.9 on my laptop. If I can pull it out of there somehow, I will, though I don't still have the install files (it was installed with file manager, and it's no longer available there, either).

Since the SDK has not been notably changed since 4.5, it should still work.  Just don't bother trying newer plug-ins in older editions of DS.  They won't crash it, but they won't do anything else either.

To clarify:  whichever version of DS4 you use needs to be at least as new as your plug-ins in version number, including all decimal places.

  • Unfortunately, that doesn't do the trick. The plug-in isn't available, and when I click on "About Installed Plug-Ins" it has a red X and says "Reason : Plug-in was made for a newer version of DAZ Studio."

  • Update:

For what it's worth, I was able to get the basic dynamic cloth control back by copying the .dll file from my laptop's working DS4.9 to my desktop version. I hadn't realized that my laptop doesn't have the full control, so I wasn't able to copy anything and get that back.

Please, DAZ, help me out, here! I bought the product, I just want to use it with the older version again!

  • Older versions are not available, though reinstalling 4.9 woudl overwrite the control plug-in with the basic version (which is why the control plug-in needs to be installed after the application).

How is PowerPose not working for you in 4.10? It's been enhanced with the addition of editable templates (and edited templates for Genesis 8 are supplied) but should be working as before, less some bugs probably, for other figures.

  • I ended up digging around in some old detachable hard drives, and found one of the old install files for an older version of Dynamic Clothing Control. Had to completely remove the DAZ Studio 4 folder from my program files and reinstall 4.9 again, and now it's working as it should.

Mostly it's the lack of the "reset pose" button. So annoying that it was removed - it's essential, and it interferes with my work flow. I can get it back by using an older .dll file from one of the pre-4.9 template packs that someone did. Perhaps I needed to update to a newer version of 4.10, but, at least in the version that I had, using the old .dll wasn't an option. Since I don't use any of the other bells and whistles that have been added to 4.10, I just decided to go back.

  • (Yes, I know that I can access a restore figure pose command from the powerpose menu, but not only does it require extra clicks, it is sandwiched between "restore figure" and "restore figure shape". It's far too easy to hit one of those by accident. And, really, those have no business being in that menu, anyway. Powerpose is for POSING, not shaping.)

  • I can't recall if that zeroed or restored the pose, but they are both in the pane's option menu - the lined button in the top corner, or right-click the tab - and can be added to a tool bar via Window>Workspace>Customise (find them on the left, drag into the desired Tool bar on the right of the dialogue).

  • I didn't realize that was an option! Thanks!
