Confused about the DAZ Studio Version numbers

Hey there,

I just read some information about the installation of the DAZ Software and I came across some inconsistency (at least this is how I look at it) in the information provided.

It really confuses me that the Quick Start Guide as well as the User Guide for DAZ Studio is talking about DAZ Studio 4.6 (http://docs.daz3d.com/lib/exe/fetch.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/userguide/daz_studio_4_x_quickstart_guide.pdf)

and when I go to the download page: https://www.daz3d.com/get_studio

I see there is DAZ Studio 4.9+ as well as DAZ Studio 4.1 available.

To me this is highly confusing!
When I open the Install Manager, I can download DAZ Studio 4.1 but if the Quickstart Guide tells me that I need 4.6, I am buffled!

Where do I get Version 4.6 from?

I am really surprised about this and I am trying to understand what's going on with the Version numbers of DAZ.  I am also experiencing problems in using the products that I bought in the DAZ Market and I have writtten another forum post about this yesterday, trying to wrap my mind around DAZ. So far it has been amazing to see the possibilities but very frustrating to not being able to use the software properly.

It would be great if someone can shed some light on the version numbers. :)

No worries, first of all, the first picture says 4.6 or higher, meaning any version above.

4.1 is different from 4.10 (ten) so 4.10 is the latest version you should download. The 4.9 resources pack can be used with 4.10.

    Hooe this helps.

  • You need to remember that these are not single decimal numbers, they are (four) integers separated by full stops (like an IP address). The numbers are Major Version (4), Minor Version (currently ten), Revision (0 for 4.10 and so far for 4.11) and finally the actual build number (123 for the release build0. Version and build usually don't make a huge difference, at least so far as the release versions go, so it's common  to give only the first two number - 4.9, 4.10 etc.
