How to install 3rd Party Content to DAZ 4.10??

Alright, I'm so sick of the unhelpful intranet. This is REALLY EXTREMELY SERIOUSLY ETERNALLY annoying and I need an answer now.
How do you install 3rd Party Content to DAZ 4.10? I tried a tonne of YouTube videos. None worked. I tried the freaking user guide, but it's only compatible with DAZ 4.6 and I think that this is a fail on the part of DAZ. So, I've downloaded stuff from Wilmap's Digital Creations, sharecg, bits and pieces from Renderosity out of their freebies, and other places. So if you guys can't answer my questions, who can?

I think that Wilmap has a tutorial as to how to install her stuff into Daz Studio somewhere on her site.
Here's the link to the tutorial.

Thanks Wendy I must bookmark that, as it is so useful
Did you try the User Guide instructions anyway? I always install my DAZ and non-DAZ content manually, and it's been the same procedure for many years, long before DAZ|Studio 4.6 — in fact I don't think I've done anything significantly different since the days of D|S3, if not before that.
One thing that trips up a lot of people is the name of the folder defined as containing your content files. Many older sets of instructions simply call this "the content folder". This does not mean "the folder named /Content/", it means "the folder that contains your content files". The actual name and location of this folder (or folders, you can have more than one) is defined in the Content Directory Management dialog. Right-click in the Content Library pane to see how to open this.
I'm pretty frustrated with this same thing. I've downloaded and installed Daz 4.10 (the most recent version) using DIM, including all of the free content that comes with it. I can access the Daz content. I then obtained 3rd party content that purports to be compatable with Daz 4.10 from shareCG and Renderosity in zipped files, I unzipped them and followed verbatim the many YouTube videos and Daz instructions; ergo, merged them into My Daz Library following the identical folder/file hiearchy.
I've done it many times over, tried variations and finally even resorted to uninstalling and reinstalling Daz 4.10 and the Daz content. Nothing. I cannot see in the Daz Smart Content section any of the G3 or G8 content items I installed, but instead, just only the original Daz content that came with the DIM.
I feel that Daz may be stopping usage of 3rd party content to force users to only use content purchased through Daz. But if that's the case, I don't want my wallet held hostage to much of the overpriced Daz content. Please help!
Smart Content will not pick up files that were manually isntalled unless you import their metadata (if they included any) or manually categorise them and set their compatibility. They should show in the Content Library under Daz Studio Formats>My Daz 3D Library (or whatever the content directory was - I see you say My Daz Library) as long as the folder you used is a content directory.
To be clear, per the tutorials, on my PC (Windows 7) I merged the files into the folders with the same name located in C:users=>Public=>Public Documents=>My Daz 3D Library, which is the same path and folder name the video and .pdf tutorials indicate. I can't find a folder "Daz Studio Formats", so I assume the content must be held within My Daz 3D Library. So per your recommendation, I checked one of the files previously unzipped and downloaded (a hair file). In the Notepad documentation it indicates "*metadata for smart content included". There were only 3 folders in the unzipped files; data, People and Runtime, all of which were successfully merged into their commensurate folder within My Daz 3D Library as indicated. Smart Content will not show it. I'm not sure what you're refering to when you indicated "set their compatibility" outside of what is the standard procedure I've described above? thx for the response...
"Daz Studio Formats" isn't a folder, it's a container for content directories in the Content Library pane.
For the item that included metadata you can open the Content Library option menu (the lined button in the top corner, or right-click the tab) and select Content DB Maintenance, then check Reimport Metadata, Accept, then in the great list you get in the next dialogue just check the new product(s) - you can ignore the Daz items as they should already be added.
Thank you for your help. I followed your instructions, and got into the Content DB Maintenance. The good news is that in the re-import metadata list I did see the files I'd previously installed in the long list. The bad news is that I checked the boxes and accepted the re-import, went to Smart Content, and again, still not there - nothing. I'm beginning to think that the new Daz downloads are beginning to block 3rd party content thereby forcing more folks to purchase theirs. If so, I understand that business is business, but they should at least advise customers of this before they use Daz.
What are your thoughts (and again, thx for the help)?
That's why I've made some tutorials in the first place! :)
Thank you - that explains a lot! I can now access the content, and noticed they now show up on the files portion of the Smart Content, but not "products". And I also have new directories loaded in the Content Library - directories I create on my computer then have Daz recognize them. Excellent!
