A corpse in various stages of decay.

You know, for those scenes where the crew has transported over to the derelict ship, and the former inhabitants are all dead from mysterious circumstances, just floating there in zero g, all dried up and scary in their spacesuits? Or someone has just opened the long-sealed coffin or tomb of the lord of the manor, and his withered corpse still clutches the secret key! Or some creature has drained the lifeforce out of a person, and they wither away before your eyes. Or you're scuba-diving in a sunken wreck, and the fish are nibbling at the bodies of the crew. Not zombies, and not skeletons, but something in between, all dried up and horrible. Maybe something like this already exists?

  • What about RawArt's Wither set?.Not helping with the later stages, but they are different from most of the zombie sets.

Never saw those before, so thanks. :) They're at least in the neighborhood. It would be sweet if there was more displaced texture or geometry additions, like flakes of skin peeling away, or worm holes.  Sunken cheeks, whole areas where the skin has pulled away, and the underlying dried muscles and tendons are exposed, that sort of thing. For the later stages, whole areas of bone underneath peeled-away skin:

  • Maybe like pieces falling off too? Empty eye sockets? I'm probably not doing the best to describe it, but hopefully you get what I mean.

Combining muscularity maps and layers and skeletons might do the trick... but yeah, sounds interesting.

    Try this.

    1) Load a G8M series and have muscle Maps on it. If you have photoshop, you may want to desaurate the musclmaps a bit and add a grey-brownish overlay color,

    2) Add a Geoshell and use a leathery shader or a zombie texture if you have one on it.

    3) In photoshop, make a layer and add some black marks to it where you want he skin to have rotten away and then apply that as an opacity map to your geoshell. You may want to tinker with the diffuse too to discolor the edge of the texture map where rotten. I suggest the cheeks and lip areas.

    4) If you have the emaciated morph, crank it to 100%. If you have any  morphs for sunken cheeks and sunken eyes, crank 'em up too.

    5) Make the eyes invisible and make the eyesocket color black.

It should look pretty dead now.

  • Have you looked at https://www.daz3d.com/skins-for-markus-zombie ? It has various degrees of rot.

Also Powerage has some interesting items but ... that is in the OTHER store. :)

  • Not sure if you still need it, but if you're using the Iray renderer, there are some excellent decaying flesh shaders in this pack on the store:

Also, if you want your corpse to be clothed in something that looks like its been on a rotting corpse for several months, this pack has some awesome cloth shaders and overlays you could use on cloth mats for your outfits:
