Genesis 3 / Genesis 8 to Mixamo - Tutorial

Hi everyone,

There are a few bits and pieces online, but I've not found a simple guide to uploading Genesis 3 & 8 to Mixamo, so here is what works for me (Note - If you have a better workflow, let me know and I'll add it!)

1. Open your figure in Daz3d. For Genesis 8, Adjust your figure to a T-pose (Left shoulder: Bend, 45.61, Right shoulder: Bend, -45.61, Left Thigh: Side-side, -6, Right Thigh: Side-side, 6)

2. Clothe your figure (Some hair on Genesis 8 makes the Mixamo auto-rigger fail. Genesis 3 is generally OK)

3. Unparent ALL hair & clothes & convert to props.

4. Convert figure to prop.

5. Re-parent all hair & clothes to figure.

6. Export as FBX with the options as in the screenshot.

7. Upload to Mixamo!

    Hi
If indeed your final objective is to use the Mixamo animations on genesis 3/8 there is a much easier alternative.

If you do not have genesis 1 install it from the DIM

Upload the default nude, Original genesis 1 figure to Mixamo.

apply the animation of your choice and download the Motion data.

Apply motion to genesis 1  in Daz studio, and save as Pose preset(.duf) saving all frames

    Load G3/8

Apply that animated pose preset to G3/8...it will work

See details for dealing with the G8 "A-pose" in this thread

  • I got Genesis 8 to Mixamo by deleting the eyelashes and changing the export setting to FBX 2014-Binary.

Can you please go on detail for every step of the way? I tried doing that but i have no idea thow to save the motion data. FBX exported from Mixamo cant load into DAZ, Tons of errors.

I tried to upload a G3F to Mixamo using the method in the original post (though I couldn't find the convert to prop function for converting a dress and hair to a prop), and I got this message:

What can I do to fix this problem?  Is this a flaw with the 4.12 version of DAZ?

I noticed the previous posts in this thread were from September 2018, February 2019, and September 2019 respectively.  Hmmm...

How exactly? I tried multiple times but either it says that it could not map existing skeleton or It processes but i cannot see my character at all for mapping..

I can confirm this method work with genesis 8, convert all figures to props (hair, sunglasses, dress, hair, genesis 8) then export to fbx and upload, mixamo will launch the auto-rigger tool, after that your model is ready.

  • EightiesIsEnough, to convert to prop go to the drop down menu for edit. Then to figure, then to rigging, then convert to prop.

I have been struggling with this for a while now and I am going to try the convert to prop method and see how it goes.

I've noticed you have to convert most of the wearables to prop before you will detach them from the figure and before you will convert main figure to prop. Then re-attach them. Rest works fine.

  • Revisiting this thread... I did successfully upload a fully-clothed character as a prop for Genesis 3, but I got a problem.  When I export as a FBX Binary and import it, the animated character doesn't appear in DAZ Studio.  When I export as an FBX Ascii and import it into DAZ Studio, the figure appears but with no animation.  What should I do to fix this?

I have the same problem. I'm using Genesis 8 and I've tried everything in this thread and nothing works. Either mixamo complains about the skeleton map or it lets you past that stage and then presents you with a blank grey screen and no effing model to put markers on.

I seem to be having the same issue. I successfully downloaded fbx files from mixamo and when i imported the files into daz studio for putting different animations together (from T-pose to animation for marvelous designer) the figure appears but with no animation. Does anybody know a solution to this problem? Thanks
