Problem with custom morph made with 3ds Max

Hi

I want to make some custom morphs for my Genesis 3 Female character with 3ds Max, and after a google search, this is what i've found:

http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/userguide/creating_content/modeling/tutorials/pbms/start

So this is what I've done (step by step):

1. Changed the resolution level of the character to Base 0

2. Exported it from Daz

3. Imported to 3ds Max

4. Moved some polygons on the head

6. Exported from 3ds Max

7. Used Morph Loader Pro with these settings

And this is how the character looks, when the morph is applied:

The scale and orientation of the changed model is good, because if i just simply import it back to Daz, it perfectly matches the base shape (except the head, where i moved the polygons)

I cant figure out what the problem is :(

Can somebody help? Thank you.

  • Looks like the vertex order is being  changed, so vertices are being moved tot he position of other vertices rather than their own. I'm not sure how you make the process maintain vertex order - what does the Single mesh option in the 3DS Import dialogue do?

It imports the model as one single mesh and not as separate objects. It doesn't do anythig with a naked model, because Daz exports G3F as one object, with different material ID-s for the eyes, mouth, teeth, e.t.c. It only affect stuff if the exported model has clothes, hair and things like that.

I don't use 3dsmax but I see an "optimize: vertex" option checked on your max export dialog screenshot, which would IMO be a likely culprit for vertices reordering.
I would try exporting again without the "optimize" options checked.

    THANK YOU!

    That was the problem :)
