Have you moved your work to another computer or reset where DS looks for your "data" or "geometries"? Which character is this? Is it a GenX modification?
Nop, I was editing when my character changed. It's Victoria 4, but it also happens with all the characters like Genesis. I didn't change the files or anything. And, what's an GenX modification? Its my 3rd day using this software
Check that you did not Change the Draw Style in the Viewport. Thats the Sphere down arrow set it to Texture Shaded if changed.
His pic show clear, there is no problem about 3d view port setting
but when rotate or manipulate figure by manipulate tool, it may happen,
you may changed setting of "manipulation tool" without intention.
open tool setting tab, from top menu Windows>pane(tabs)>tool setting (bottom area)
serch "During manipulation" . (middle of the pane) section.
then set "Draw style" as "Use current off."
it can change the shading status when you use the tool.
What figure does it say you have loaded in the scene tab?
That wouldn't cause those blocks. Those are a geometry issue usually caused when you try to load a figure, say V6, but it can't find the base G2F geometry. It happened to a lot of people when V6 first released, but they didn't have G2F downloaded.
could be annoying but, happend to me when accidently i press the key "1"
check what "Jaderail" propose.
Now with that said as the OP is set to Texture shaded I agree the Data is not found. This is probably a path issue in the prefs, or files installed to outdated genesis. The Genesis Starter Essentials has been updated many times and to have all working properly things need to be updated as they come out.
The Auto Updates in one reason I use DIM now.
OMG, that worked! I uninstalled DAZ like 5 times xD My gosh! Thank you so much :D
I changed my Library 'cause I though that the boxes problems where caused by a problem on installation. Now I don't have ANY texture in skin, clothes, or eyes. All the items I checked, or the skin, used to work perfectly in Daz, so I don't know what to do. Thanks for the help!
I'm not understanding, how did you change your Library? And is it MAPPED to DAZ Studio if you moved or made a new one? This is a DIM default library mapped as it should be.
I forgot about the bounding box shading mode, but either way it wasn't the cause. As said before, his screenshot clearly shows his shading mode.
Appreciate what sounds like a snotty reply though. Thanks.
Are you trying to apply them directly to Genesis 2 Female or Genesis classic? Genesis 2 has a unique surface arrangement that isn't compatible with the older Poser format method of applying textures while Genesis classic remains compatible. If you need to apply an older V4 texture then first apply it to Genesis and save it as a materials preset in DUF format. You can then apply this new DUF version to Genesis 2 assuming you have the V4 figure for Genesis 2 for the UV set.
If you apply it to Genesis classic with the incorrect paths you would receive warning messages stating that it cannot find textures.
About this time,, OP pic show he changed the shading to "smooth shade", in 3d view
without intention ^^;
I think it can not show any coller texture, even thoug you set correct directory,
and use presets as right way.
then,, anyway you may better ,, use default location. without special reason.I think.
but of course you need to set the
contents directory path by ds directory manger again.
to ds can serch your contents.
it cause trouble easy, so I do not recommend change directory many times
untill you grab it well.
It was not intended to be seen as it was taken. Many users have lost some or all of their Layout settings and I addressed that as the cause. My idea was valid, in my eyes at the time, I did agree your reasoning was better. No disrespect was intended.
I am have a problem with the genesis 2 female loading but nothing I see here has worked and it is not a shading or tool setting. it is missing files. after I hit the ok button I get the block figure you see in the picture. not sure what to do have uninstall and reinstall still doing this. and genesis2 female is the only one I am having this problem with.
Image removed for nudity. Please review this thread for details http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/3279_98/
It looks as if the geometry files are not installed - or are not isntalled correctly. Do you have a \Data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 2\Female folder, and if so where is it?
I sorry for the nudeness I not sure what you asking? where should I look and where should the file be?
The folder should be in one of the folders you have set as a DAZ Studio content directory - probably either \DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library in your own Documents folder or \My DAZ 3D Library in your Public or Shared Documents folder.
here are my files location and where I found what I think you are asking hope this helps you help me thanks for your time
There should be a Genesis2Female.dsf in ...\My Library\data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 2\Female
I see you have some folders in My Library that may be mislocated: Content, DAZ 3D, DAZ Content. What's inside them? If there are Data and Runtime folders inside one of those subfolders, that's why DS isn't finding them.
here are whats in those folders
oh, thank you, thank you, thank you... you just solved my problem
Looks like you manually installed Genesis Starter Essentials and Genesis 2 Female Starter Essentials -- you don't want that folder named "Content" inside My Library -- everything INSIDE the folder named "Content" needs to be moved up one level and merged with the folders under "My Library".
thank you that did it now working thanks for all the help sorry again for posting the nudeness was just trying to figure out what was wrong.
Thank you for your time. :red: :-)
