Second, to the person that posted NVidia is discontinuing IRay, Please do not post such statements unless you can provide a reputable source ( Such as NVidia themselves ) this only starts rumors

Not a rumor my friend... I know you don't believe me now just like you didnt believe me 6 months ago, but Iray today is in fact still very dead inside Nvidia today just as it was 6 months ago.   I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it's not helping all the people still holding onto the dream.  lets just hope Daz is working on what is next.

So you've got NVidia developing a AI version of IRay - while developing a series of graphics cards that use AI and you think NVidia is not going to further develope the IRay SDK

    Not a chance.

. If you really think Nvidia is still developing IRAY you are in for a rude awakening.

5 months later :)   I hope the reality has sunk in for you guys that were o so damn sure of yourselves.  The question  now is... what do we all do next?

    Not me.

Marketting hype. I don't believe it. It's purpose is to sell something I may not need/ definitely don't need, and may never need. How much I want it will depend on how much of a gap there is between hype and reality. There is always some.

as we sit the Titan V from last generation Volta is the fastest Iray card you can use.   RTX cards will not be faster unless DAZ completely takes over the IRAY development themselves like Solidworks and the other renderers have.  I have asked DAZ this exact question and they told me that development on iray is up to Nvidia.  And nvidia has moved on.   The only good thing about the RTX Titan is the massive amount of memory on it that may be needed for big scenes in daz.

Nvidia may not have discontinued IRAY, but this link explains what they have done https://www.nvidia.com/en-gb/design-visualization/solutions/rendering/product-updates/

Partners are responsible for its development.

you are 100%  correct sir.    Daz needs to continue to develop the plugin themselves,  which is ok as they have always done the plugin themselves,,  but the problem is that plugin will revolve around aging code.  The only way it works is if one of the companies that have actually developed forward the iray code like solidworks who can afford to as they have a million users shares that code  back with nvidia who then gives it to daz, which isn't out of the question.     Last time i asked Daz, the response i recieved was that they only implement what they get from nvidia.

    Hi,

We implement what NVIDIA Iray library gives us. This is an NVIDIA Iray issue, not a Daz Studio issue. I am going to be closing this ticket. Please contact NVIDIA.

Iray plugins are not iray! the plogins are specific to a number of 3d graphics programs. Daz does not use a plug in. therefore Daz is completely unaffected by this change. Iray itself remains in development by Nvidia.

The linked post is about Iray, it's just being made in the context of a thread on the plug-ins site.

Ah, I missed the earlier posts - landed on Rawb's post isntead.
