How to use g3 materials on g2

Sorry, I know this is somewhere in the forums but I didn't have much luck searching.

I want to be able to use Genesis 3 skin on Genesis 2 (both genders). I think I saw a product or a way to do this a long time ago, but it didn't work on the anatomical elements.

Can someone please help in one of the following ways.

1. Help me with a way to use G3 skin on G2 figures including anatomical elements.

2. Help me find good Iray skins for G2 figures including anatomical elements.

3. If anatomical elements aren't an option how do I do it with the figures only?

    Genesis 3 UVs for Genesis 2 Male(s)
    Genesis 3 UVs for Genesis 2 Female(s)

Note: If the skin doesn't use the Genesis 3 UV like Victoria 7 and the other core figures, you must convert them with the Map Transfer (tool of Daz Studio).

It might be easier to convert G2 to IRay. Anagenesis 2 is great for that!

For this do I have to manually transfer each texture and setting? Or can the preset for g3 be used on g2 after using the above product?

I have this product: https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-3-uvs-for-genesis-2-female-s and it's pretty easy to use. The main thing that takes a little longer is just setting up the G3 mats as a materials preset. After that the load onto G2F is super fast.

Here's a quick tutorial on how to use it (at least how I do it):

    1) Load the G3 character that has mats you want to use and set up the character's mats just the way you want it (including adding any additional shaders or any other adjustments you want to the textures). Once you have the mats set up just the way you like it save it as a Materials Preset (File >> Save As >> Materials Preset). Save it some place you'll find it easily and name it something you'll remember - example: "Victoria 7 Mats w Iray Shader".

    2) Load G2 and apply the "Prepare Genesis 2" setting:

    3) Then apply the Materials Preset you saved (the character will likely look really weird now but don't panic - the next step fixes it).

    4) Apply the "Apply Genesis 3 UV" setting.

    And Voila - G3 textures on G2 character. :)

Here I've used that product to use some Genesis 3 Female textures with Stephanie 6:

At least for each core figure but generally the PAs use the base UV set, you don't need to convert them.

  • Hello everyone. Sorry for the necro but I have a question.
How can I make textures adapted by Genesis 3 UVs for Genesis 2 Female(s) to an proper texture for G2? The add on creates geografts to fill the gaps in the texture but since that is not part of the main texture the map transfer utility (or saving the material preset) seems to have problems to generate a proper output fr G2 (e.g. the ears appear in the face part and are missing from the torso and there are grey areas in the texture where the geografts are).

It's not possible, you would need a version of the geografts with G3 UVs to be able to use map transfer to convert the maps.
