OK, thanks. I may see if I can tinker with the cap opacity map for tousled to make it match better; that's been something I've seen on a few different hairs. (Which, to be sure, isn't its fault for not matching hair it wasn't meant to work with.)

It looks better with darker skin I think. Owen is very pale. I didn't use a cap on Boyd with the blonde hair, and I can't really tell. Maybe I i will have to zoom in.....  Boyd has existing small sideburns. They almost match the blonde which came with the set.

Okay, my opinion on the hair is it needs a hair cap. It looks thin and fur-like on Owen's really pale head

Okay just my personal opinion but Owen looks like my younger brother when he went from longer hair to a crew cut  for about the first week until it got a bit of a tan his scalp was real obvious ....... my other brother who is a blonde just looked bald with a crew cut

Yeah, I saw in the promos that it doesn't have a hair cap. Immediately makes it uninteresting to me. This set is one of the earliest I bought back when I just started out with DS. The main reason I rarely use it these days is that it doesn't have a hair cap and the scalp keeps showing, especially from the side and behind.

Hmm. I  agree totally!laugh I had forgotten about this hair. Yeah, when I got it, it did look kind of on the mangy side so I didn't use it either.

I decided to see what it looked like over the Touseled Cap, and it isn't that bad. A bit... Grassy, but it looks kind of cute. Too bad, it doesn't track the shape of the cap a tad better.

I really wish DAZ Store would make some standard hairline caps so that PA's who produce hair can have some guidlines on where hairlines actually fit for different genders, and styles. It gets a bit tiresome to have unisex hairlines.

Boyd puts on his shirt in Rural Virginia. Yeah. I am into this whole Rural Virginia HDRI set. I'll let you know when I'm bored....  This is one of the exterior ones.

On the subject of Men's new releases here we have S8. S8 appears to be a  Midnight Stories buyout.. Daz Original, and I would say it is easy to see why.

The textures in particular here, are really oustanding. The set's helmet in  is extremely well done, (breathing gear!) and the balaclava just looks useful for kitbashing.

The suit has the same issue I tend to have with a lot of Midnight Stories Bodysuits.... It appears designed for women, with the pronounced breast definition and the groin bikini/piece designed to mimic a bikini top. .  However, in this case, it also looks smooth enough to be more masculine than usual.

The price is great, and I really think this is one of my favorite's of Midnight Stories sets..

For those interested you can dial in a bulge.

Overall, a fantastic piece of work, easily one of the nicer looking suits made by this vendor.

This was Rural Virginia HDRI 11. I finally got to use the HDRI Tool Kit, to put him IN the water, not floating above it. It works pretty well but I had to obscure the shadow a bit with mist. I also got to use Ron's Dry Ice, which I haven't used much before.

This image depicts Owen as he might look without the pale skin.

^ gorgous. What wet-skin product did you use?

  • Serene NightSerene Night Posts: 17,647

The geoshells which came with this set: https://www.daz3d.com/short-wet-hair-for-genesis-8-male-s-and-female-s

Of all the geoshells for skin wetness I own. this is the best one I think.

This was a test of the Ultimate Body Blush product. It adds a geoshell much like the sweat water drop overlays do

    Ultimate Body Brush

That typo confused me to no end! It didn't help that the effect is relatively subtle and the product is not from the DAZ store...

Finally found the product and figured it out! laugh

  • Serene NightSerene Night Posts: 17,647

oh, thanks. Corrected the typo.blush The product is subtle the way I applied it, but it can be quite vivid. It tends to look a bit.. Strange at full volume though. Fortunately, there are color options. The PA did a poor job of organizing their folders so the color options are hidden kinda

For those of you who like https://www.daz3d.com/summer-time-outfit-for-genesis-3-and-genesis-8-male-s

There is a very nice texture expansion called: Copacabana Style Textures for Summer Time G8M which ads some great new options.

This is one of my favorite sets of clothing in the DAZ store. It predates a lot of the dforce outfits, which I don't really like, and has a lot of details, like stitching, a nice tailored fit, and great shoes and accessories. The textures have a number of swimsuit options, shirts, shorts the works.

Does anybody understand what's up with Nabi's Seamon? He looks intriguing but between the strange red area around his eyes and the ZOMBI DOLPHIN ANGEL I'm a little bit... confused.

Posting here because you're the de facto expert on male figures 'round here. wink

Not to mention the lack of nipples.

Looks to me to be a original fictional legend intended to be an alternate take on some sort of mermaid/merman especially given the sailor outfit and styliized dolphin friend.

I think that they are going for an anime Bishie kind of look, hence the fact that it has no gens, since he's fairly toony and to be honest, looks young to me. The red neon effect makes it really hard to gauge what the character looks like, or is supposed to look like. Its okay for one promo, as a stylized look, but the neon red looks like baked in highlights on the face, which is a no no. The hat and the whole thing, and the product description is sparse. (Since he is a 'seamon' and that name makes me cringe a litte). Further, his face looks lighter than his body, and has a waxy feverish quality. hard pass.

I lean more towards the Bara side of the anime spectrum. No offense to manga/bishie/anime lovers.

As far as the dolphin thing goes... he's also got a ball and chain on... Very... Odd... I like to think the electronic dolphin is rescuing him!

So my question is... what are knucles? And why do I want them when rendering my circle-shaped men?  Seriously I need to weed out my morph folder.

possibly a misspell of "knuckles" cause there is finger ,hand and toe knuckles maybe to enlarge make more prominent ,lke a fist fighter or maybe arthrtic joints?

what morph pack are they from?

    I'm guessing this one: https://www.daz3d.com/ej-body-shape-and-detail-morphs-for-genesis-8-male-s

It's spelled the same way on the product information page. Also has "circle shape" as an option.

Pretty sure you actually wouldn't want them while rendering your circle shaped men, since circle shaped men would be more likely to have the knucles obscured by weight. Though that varies, of course.

The new Winter Forest HDRI is really cool. Pretty decent ground for an HDRI.

Boyd versus Rawart Scarecrow. I really do like the scarecrow. I just wish the straw was a bit more... Straw-y. there is the ability to make it bigger but it looks more like hair, I'm afraid.

I am displeased. Why isn't Stuff at DAZ Store being better tested? This is the second HDRI set with a incorrect file structure. You'd think HDRI's at least would be easy to test. Do  I have to fix everything? If so, my consultant fee is 30 an hour. It may not seem like much, but my time is valuable too.

The issue with this is DIM installs half the HDRI in the Runtime here

    D:\DAZ Studio\Runtime\JDA _HDRI\Spaceship_Interiors

and the other half of the HDRI into:D:\DAZ Studio\Runtime\Textures\JDA_HDRI\Spaceship_Interiors

If you copy the HDRI into the D:\DAZ Studio\Runtime\Textures\JDA_HDRI\Spaceship_Interiors

Folder, from the root of the runtime... You can get the product to run.

    This should've been tested better.
