Attaching V4 Props to Genesis 8

So what I'm looking to do today is to take a prop that goes with V4 and create a preset icon that loads the prop properly parented to Genesis 8, ideally along with updated material settings.  For my learning process, I'm using the Blades that come with Complicated Eve (https://www.daz3d.com/complicated-eve).

My process so far is to load Genesis 8, make sure nothing is selected, then load the prop.  Spend half an hour View Translate - ing it into the position I want.  Spend an hour forming the hand into the pose I want.  Parent the prop to the appropriate hand.  Adjust the material settings.

After that, I get a little fuzzy.  I assume I select the prop and Save As -> Support Asset -> Figure/Prop Asset.  I'm not sure how or if it will save as parented to the hand or not, or if it will still think its supposed to go to V4 and go flying off into the scene.  I'm also not sure if it will save with the new material settings   I'm mostly wondering, though, if there's an easy way to speed up the process of translating the prop onto the hand.

Okay, I got the "saving with parenting" element.  Pretty obvious, no probs there.  Still hoping for an easy way to dial the prop onto a Gen8 hand.
