Genesis files missing after upgrade

Hi, I am new to DAZ.

Things were going well until I upgraded to 4.6. (64bit, Windows 7 OS). Now I cannot properly load the basic Genesis figures. I get an error message stating, for example: You are missing- /data/DAZ 3D/Genesis/Base/Morphs/DAZ 3D/Base/FBMBasicFemale.dsf
/data/DAZ 3D/Genesis/Base/Genesis.dsf
-then it loads a bunch of blocks of vaguely human form.

I have done multiple searches and tried multiple solutions, including using the DIM to download and install directly what I thought was missing- it didn't work. Nothing has worked, now I am just dazed and confused.

So, I'm hoping someone knowledgeable has the patience to walk me through what to do (speak to me like I'm a nine year old LOL) I would be very grateful. I would really like to be able to use this program!!!

Thanks,

Garrett

Did you install the Genesis Essentials for DAZ Studio 4.5+?
If you did install Genesis Essentials, in preferences you can select what file to load at startup, select genesis.duf, not genesis.dsf

It sounds as though Daz might be looking in the wrong place for your content. Check Edit -> Preferences -> Content Library -> Content Directory Manager.

You should see a window listing all of your content folders. Make sure Daz is looking in the right place for your saved content, and if it isn't then change the path to the correct location. Assuming everything is in place, navigate to your content folder and check that Genesis is indeed in the path listed. If it isn't, then you might want to reinstall the Genesis Starter Essentials, which has the Genesis mesh.

    Thank you Totte and HeraldOfFire,

You were both very helpful, much appreciated!

The problem was when the original program installed on my PC (Windows 7) it put My Library in my user account. When the update installed it decided to make a new My Library in All Users. -??? (I am the only user.)

Once I figured that out, I tried changing the DIM settings to my user account, but couldn't figure out how to change the install path- the options to do so were greyed out. - So, that was when I read the DIM instructions (lol) and found out I needed to make a new 'shortcut', then select that- it worked!

I would like to note that having to use a '+' button to make a new 'shortcut' and then press a '....' to change the library looked like some kind of Morse Code, rather non-intuitive.

In any case, the problem is fixed and I'm grateful for your kind help. :) I'm back to work now!

    Thanks!

    Garrett
