    During my synth music phase years ago, I was shopping around for computer instrument software and heard a demo in a music store.  It had that intro sound from Rush's "Tom Sawyer", at which point I looked at the clerk who was smiling, "Yup, Tom Sawyer".  Sold.

    there was a channel I was subscribed to for years who did Carrara animations, cannot recall the name now, was a fair few years ago that after being quiet started posting weird unrelated stuff pyramid sceme stuff and I thought they must have gone into this stuff

    just unsubscribed

    but now I think I know what happened

    "Opening with a wide-open breakbeat and a Oberheim synth glurp, Peart’s beat became irresistible sample fodder ... "  (On "Tom Sawyer", NYTimes, 12Jan2020)  That "glurp" is what sold me on the software.  I later got an Oberheim Matrix rackmount synth that probably had that sound also.

    I am suffering a bit of an existential crisis at the moment 

    as disasters unfold and other stuff happens in the world I am feeling the futility of it all

    I have felt so thankful I never had children as I do now
