Sad part is, I a left a county in which there were no reported cases to drive across the country to a place in which there are reported cases. (only half way there) F-ed up. But I had rented a place in south Florida for March. Afraid that an extended travel shut down would extend beyond March 31st, and then what would I do?
I had been using a coffee shop and a public library WiFi to get my morning 3-D hobby in. Obviously couldn't continue doing that.
Hope everyone is taking appropriate precautions.
yes looks like it increasing at an average of 23 percent approx a day here in oz - I think that is literally exponential
button down the hatches
:(
Big jump in NSW....
and I am losing money rapidly I am not sure I could even find a job at my age and lack of skills
Gets a lot harder to find a job once you go past that 50 figure, even with skills !!!
maybe toilet paper distribution
yeah am 58
i can't get a grocery order in. site says sold out on delivery times
our age group effected badly
this is really going to cause hardship for the older, infirm and disabled
as well as the poor
The company I use for my main Grocery orders is advising their customers to book deliveries well in advance and then edit the order nearer the time scheduled if there are differences to what you thought you might need. This does help to make sure that their regular customers are getting deliveries, They are also restricting the amount ordered of some items to avoid stockpiling.
Meals on wheels is being supported by woolies in supplying toilet paper for their customers in NSW
There is (was?) toilet paper in the gas station in Kilgore, Texas.
Psst, there are boxes of wipes for doggies that are just like the ones for humans. ;-)
best to keep it a secret !
if it's of any interest - soaking cotton balls in a small amount of metho apparently is as good as useing commercial fire starters to light a barbi
metho = methylated spirits
there was a lot of hoohahing a few weeks ago about stocking up on water - 'oh the virus won't effect the water supply'
then just last week our prime minster seems to have had the epiphany that the virus could in fact effect utilities because the people who run them might stop turning up for work....
eg electricity, water....
Grab some salt wendy, it's cheap and good for storing things (maybe)
also get some cheap hard cheese and if you don'thave cheese wax (who does?)
some parrafin wax and oil - mix the oil (olive) with some wax to make it slightly soft so it doesnt crack
then coat cheese in wax -
see here for ideas on ratios - of course beeswax isnt parrafin wax - but cheese is cheap bang for buck in calorie intake - chedder or colby - and will last a long time on the shelf if you do it correctly -
also rolled oats are cheap and healthy

I cannot afford to prep, have no car, and now am just getting poorer
then have to put up with all these rich buggers telling us we are stupid on top of it all
I wonder if corellas are tasty, no shortage of those, I have tree netting
probably full of parasites
sorry to hear that Wendy
I used one of these once - caught a cute large feld mouse under the stairs and when it saw me coming it started crying - literally - i spent 20 mins trying to wash the glue off it trying not to drown it - ended up being late for work and th epoor buggers legs were still welded together
they should be banned they are disgusting
but they would be good for catchig small birds if it comes down t o e ating the wildlife - seriously

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pademelon
was only kidding about the glue traps
I might nick over to Dan Murphy's and buy some nice fortified spirits
not had a drink in months
I can only handle one shot these days anyway so should last me
For my British boardies: DO NOT EDIT YOUR ONLINE GROCERY BASKET after checking out. This happened to me at Christmas. I kept getting emails to hurry up and edit before deadline. With Ocado, once I opened my basket again, because you must resubmit payment, it is wide open and that is when I got about 10 OUT OF STOCK notices on stuff I already paid for when I went to re-pay for items I added. Remember, editing as far as they are concerned means you might remove stuff, not just add stuff, so your basket is not protected when editing!
I had quite the go round on the phone about this with Ocado in early December as they had promotions on some items and I lost them all in edit. This happens because they use Just In Time warehousing... so what you pick is not yours. And you may lose it anyways, but editing ups your chances of these losses.
Silene

Exchange rate: 1 AUD = 0.590333 USD
That will make it more expensive to import toilet paper !!!
