I have a simple question and have been searching the forums for hours...
I have a prop. I have a hand. The prop is behind the hand. I want the prop in front of the hand.
I simply cannot work out how to do it.
Can anyone help please?

You should be able to adjust the prop using it's transform sliders or the viewport gizmo, with the prop selected. Is it parented to the hand? If not that the first thing to do - you can eithe drag its entry in the Scene pane onto the hand's entry in the Sceen pane, or you can right-click on the prop and select the Change Parent option.
Thanks for the response Richard.
I've parented it to the hand. I've played with all the sliders. It moves around, it changes size. But it sits stubbornly behand the hand. I need a simple"bring to front" function.
In the Tool Settings pane try setting the Coordinate System to Universe.
Thanks again. Still flumoxed.
Perhaps an image would help?
Image below. A hand, a phone. A phone behind a hand.
I can't really see what is happening there - do you have the phone selected?
With the phone selected check for Fit-To under Misc in the Parameter pane, if it is set to the figure set it to None.
I have pushed so many buttons. It ought to be so simple.I have attached a better photo.
The phone is a default load, fitted to nothing, no parent.
The figure and the prop are completely seperate. But I cannot stop the phone disappearing behind the figure.
Woe is me. Actually, deeply frsutrated is me.
A question first. Did you load the prop while the figure was selected?
Just to give you a first step to try, select the figure (not the prop) in the scene tab, the go to parameters tab and move the figure on the Z axis, does that change the position of figure and prop in relation to each other?
Having the item parented to the hand may also cause problems moving it. Unparent it or reload it like Linwelly said, without your figure selected. Parent it only AFTER you have it positioned.
