Will DazStudio 4.6 load models intended for Daz Studio?

edited December 1969 in New Users

Hi,

Newbie question.

I am browsing the Daz3d store and I see that I can filter by products that are intended specifically for DazStudio 4.6.

I also see that there are many products built for the earlier version of Daz Studio.

Can those earlier models/meshed also be loaded or imported into Daz Studio 4.6

Thanks.

I have a lot of things installed, some of them released a few days ago, some released a few years ago. I have never had a major problem. Little poke problems with clothing here and there that smoothing doesn't want to fix, but we did fine in DS3 without smoothing and the tools are still there.
The only things I would imagine could cause a compatibility issue would be the plug-ins. But again, I've never had any major problems...

Yes, for the most part content will work - as lucifer.deumos notes, plugins that haven't been updated are likely to be problematic, and scripts and shaders may too. DAZ does have a thirty day money back guarantee, or you can ask about specific products in the forum.

Something that isn't really obvious about the store pages is that, many times, where it says compatibility is "DAZ|Studio 4.6" that's only a placeholder for "whatever the current release version happens to be". Some brand new items only say "D|S", some really old stuff made for D|S4.0 or D|S3 or even earlier (but still work) say "D|S4.6". It's complicated. The best option if you're not sure is to ask here on the forums — you're sure to get an answer quickly.
