Muelsfell Storm of Magic Iray FX issues

I get error messages when i extract some files (aether storm notice and hands notice), but as soon as i use the product in DazStudio everything works as intended except the magic effects on the hands: I tried different effects, but they are not visible in the viewport or in the rendered image.

    You mean while installing? How did you install if so? if it was manually, what did you use to unzip?

    What exactly were the error messages saying? Have you tried installing with Install Manager?

    Keeping my eye on this in case I need to do a product update. 

    Let us know if you end up solving the problem with DIM or some other means, too.

    I have the same problem the zip file contents are corrupted. It needs to be zipped properly. I know it's not my win zip because the 1000's of other files I have used it on works fine. Daz there is no reason to make a mountain out of a mole hill just fix the zip without your customers filling out the crazy long ticket you have for technical issues.

    The issue needs to be reported by someone who has the set before it can be fixed.

    I idownloaded and installed via DIM (on Win 7, 64-bit) and had no issues doign that.  Not had tme to use product as yet.

    Windows built-in zip utility has a problem with zips that contain files of 0kb size.  A few products use such files as placeholders so Windows falls down and goes boom when it tries to open them, DIM and many other zip utilities don't have this problem.

    How can i use the magic effects on the hands? A short explanation would be a workaround, because only the aether storm notice and hands notice files are corrupt.

    Unless, or until, your downlaod and install is error-free you will likely get errors reagrdless of method of application of product components

    Pretty much this.  You need to make sure your install is correct.  Also see Richard's post about contacting customer service so they can fix the zip if need be.

    However the "notices" you're missing are actually instructions.  I'll repeat them here:

    For the hands: 

    1 - Apply the alpha pattern you want to Genesis 8 

    2- Apply the Glow Colour

    If you apply only the alpha, but no emissive glow, then you won't see anything in a render (since the alpha only handles the emissive).

    For the storm:

    "The Aether Storm is a large prop.  You may need to turn the groundplane OFF to accomadate low camera angles."  - Basically that just means if you have the default scene, load in the storm, then rotate the camera to look up at the storm, you won't see it -- because the groundplane will block it.

    Hope that helps.  It sounds like this is the windows unzipping problem.
