Daz Intall Manager on the Mac & PC
Hi All, I have a question regarding the Daz Install Manager (DIM) for the Mac (although this may work exactly the same as the PC version in this respect).
My HD is filling up with installers for Daz and Poser and I need to reclaim some space. In the DIM download folder I have both ZIP and DSX files.
How does the DIM determine whether something's installed or not - does it look in Daz Studio's 'My Library' or does it look in the DIM download folder or does it rely on it's own install history (if it keeps one)?
If it looks in the DIM Download folder for the ZIPs, I can delete the DSXs.
If it looks in the DIM Download folder for the DSXs, I can delete the ZIPs.
If it looks in the 'My Library' folder or it's own 'history', it means I can delete everything in the DIM's download folder once it's installed. :)
Thanks for your help.

OK - I don't do Mac, so you'll need to do a bit of scouting.
When DIM installs a product it combines elements of the order manifest (the .dsx that is in the download folder) with the file manifest (the .dsx in the zip) and stores them - in windows, in C:\Users\Public\PublicDocuments\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\ManifestFiles.
In any case - once installed, you do not need the downloads. You have two options; select 'Delete Package Once Installed' before installing or go into the 'Installed' tab, select any number of items, right-click, and select 'delete packages' 'All Selected'. As long as the manifest is still in the documents path DIM will know the package has been installed.
Thanks for the quick reply! :)
I've found where the Manifest is on the Mac:
MacHD > Users > Shared > Daz 3D > InstallManager > ManifestFiles
So what you're saying is that once the items have been installed, I can clear out the DIM downloads folder of ZIPs and DSXs as long as the DSX files remain in the ManifestFiles folder?
Here's where Delete Package Once Installed is (2nd tab for Ready to Install, bottom of window)
Also, on your 3rd tab, list of Installed products, you can right-click and choose to delete the installer package for individual products.
When I went to reclaim space, I sorted by size there, and started deleting the installers for the largest first.
Oooh... I wasn't aware of this option - I'm off to select it now. :D
Umm... I can't find that option. On the main DIM window, the only option is to 'Install After Download'. In the Settings window, there's no option similar to 'Delete Package Once Installed' on either of the 4 tabs. :(
That option is at the very bottom of the 'Ready to Install' tab.
Thanks guys - I didn't think to look on the different tabs of the main DIM window. Doh!!
