OT- or maybe not... Spam or Scam?... Curious about a missing thread...

This is probably nothing, but...

I just got back after being away from home for a week and I was going through some of my emails, I clicked on a thread notification which brought me to the login screen- normally it should have brought me to the thread, even if I was (auto) logged out from the forums (which is now the new norm)... but with all the recent log-in fun I figured "whatever" and logged in.
Instead of going to the thread it opened my account page.
Which is unusual up to this point.
The thread was from the DAZ Discussion Forum- titled "Hello!"
The notification was from DAZ, so I didn't really think twice... but... that was odd...
So I looked at the email again and realized I have not recently posted in any thread of that title since march...
This (other) thread was not in the Discussion Forum, but was in the "Welcome!" Forum...
The Title was the same, but that post (the one in my email) is not in that (older) thread...
The engrish is bad, not unlike some hack attacks and spam I've seen.
The link will now always take me to my account page even if I type it into my browser...
Something is odd...
So I'm curious.
Was there another thread with the same name which was removed because it was spam or a scam?
Did a parallel universe merge with ours again?
Am I crazy and paranoid? (eh... never mind that one)...

Or is this something worse?
Just wondering.
Anyone else experience this too or know anything about this?

My brain is a bit mushy, I just woke up after driving more than 500 miles and only getting 5 hours of sleep last night... so sorry if this is nothing.

It isn't spam or a scam. That post was removed for being spam. Whenever we remove or merge a thread it will take you to your account dashboard.

    Hi

I am sorry this one of the unfortunate things that happen when a Spambot or something similar necro's and old thread in order to try inserting spam posts into the forum. No matter how quickly we spot and remove the spam the ebots are triggered automatically as soon as a post is made to a thread, we cannot stop then going out once they are triggered.

    Thanks Frank0314 and chohole!
I did not recall being forwarded to the account page ever, but I thought I'd ask just in case.
    Thanks for the quick reply!

Well the old message in a case like this, when you clicked to connect to the forum from an ebot about a post that was removed, was that the thread did not exist, which was wrong. So they changed something and now you get sent to your account instead. Not sure if it is better, but at least you no longer get a misleading error message.

I don't know if it is better or not either, but now I know that is what happens when a post is removed... Its not really a bother or anything.
I was just wondering... ya never know... its always better to ask and look silly than to let it go and be foolish.
Then again I'm usually both, so I figure whats the worry.

or even the latest form of spam to hit which is enhancers for toast, no doubt fueled by all the threads that appear about the subject nowadays. Spambots do tend to be triggered by word recognition.

I'm sorry but when I saw "enhancers for toast" I automatically thought of butter or jam. Though, now that I think about it, I guess that could work for both meanings of the word depending on your "preferences" :)

No, but I was worried I might have missed out on contact from my long lost uncle, the king of Nigeria who keeps on trying to send me my lottery winnings from the European lottery which I never entered but rightfully deserve... the poor fellow just needs all my personal bank account info so he can help me...

Or Ogg boots (which is a big one on another forum that I read). I already have Ogg boots for V4 and Laura, thank you very much.
