How To Create A Shortcut To Expressions

We all use expressions on every character, obviously. When I am ready to use an expression or an expression dial from, say, i3D, I have to Select Character Head > Pose Controls > Head> Expressions > i3D > 100 Must Have Expression > Joy & Happiness. That's a lot of clicks for something I do multiple times a day!

Is there a way to create a shortcut to just, say, "100 Must Have Expressions"?

  • You can click the heart icon on the sldier to add a particular property to the Favourites group, but you can't favourite a whole group. If all the morphs labels start with the same letters you could type that into the filter box at the top of the pane. I'm not sure if a script could be written to jump the pane to showing a particular group - it might well be supported, given the needs of the Scene Builder.

  • Thank you, Richard. I appreciate your advice, as always.

The expression dials can also be found in the figure root node in the Pose Controls Property Group. OK that only saves you from one additional click.

Another idea is to create Aliases those act like duplicates of existing properties but their values are synchronized (the expressions are actualy Aliases - thats why they can get accesed in two different Property Groups in the head and the root node). You can create Aliases with the Parameters pane in Edit-Mode (right-click menu), then by selecting the Expression Property, right-click on it and choose Property Cloner also check Create As Aliases at the bottom of the dialogue. Beside of Morphs and Parameters, Aliases are the third kind of Properties. You can tell what type of Property you are looking at in the Parameters pane in Edit-Mode there is a letter M, P or A in front of the silder.

Thank for this info. It helped me create the Aliases for my custom expression morphs. I was searching for this info for some time now.
