Hi,
Working with DS 4.6
I am trying to create a Layered Image Preset that I can distribute.
I want the corset to be able to load over any character texture.
I have it saved as a .duf file
What do I have to do to create the preset to distribute?

Also, once it is save how do I load it to check it?
(I am a total newbie with DS)

    Hi Zevo,
I bought your Vascularity set. Splendid product.
The tutorial calls for saving .dsi and dsa files.
all I have is a .duf
I have no clue what those files are or how to create them.
Also in DS 4 the interface is different.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

.dsi and .dsa are DS3 formats. In DS4 files are now saved in .duf format, Once you have set up your LIE in the surfaces you can save them using File->Save As->Layered Image(s) Preset. These files will not be usable in DS3, and there is no Depreciated format available from DS4. If you want .dsi format you would need to create and save from DS3.

    Hi,
Thanks so much for all of your help.
Now that i have the duf files, How would I load them to apply the corset
    over the base texture map.?

    Zevo,
How did you get your .dsa files to look so good and clean in notepad?
My text in notepad is just a long string that runs across the page that is difficult to edit..
Yours is orderly and tidy, easy to edit,
Did you edit it in a different editor or is it the way it is written in DS3?

I think I understand what you want to do. I believe you have distribute the PNG file so someone who wanted to use it would use LIE to apply over their own texture map. Right?

Also note that the .dsi files are text files, so you can also create them by hand if you want. It cranking out a lot of variants, editing a template text file is much quicker than trying to configure and save each of them out from within DS itself.

    Hi,
I thank you all for your help.
Due to all of your help I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

If i want to do latex, is there a way to add a reflection map or is that pushIng it too much?

Also, can a bump map be added?

you can add as many as you want, be it displace, bump, spec, transpancy etc:)

Each of the channels (reflection, bump, etc) needs its own LIE file. Then your user-facing material preset file can apply all the different LIEs to their respective channels in one shot.

In the text editor you're using apply what Notepad calls "word wrap". [found under "Format"]

Notepad only recognizes Windows-style line ending conventions. If you open the file in wordpad, it should see all line ending conventions. If you then re-save it in wordpad, it will convert to Windows-style, and notepad will work.

However, the real solution is to download and install Notepad++, which is open source software. It is a VASTLY superior text editor.
