I haven't had a chance to test to say how good it works or not or how easy it is to use or not. Nor can I compare/contrast it to elefont which has also been suggested but I thought I'd mention it here for what it's worth in case anyone wanting to add 3D text to something might already have it.
Edit: Okay this probably won't work for anyone looking to turn into 3D a particular font. All it appears to be is two different object libraries. One with a set of capitalized 3D letters from the english alphabet as well as some things such as .corp for making building signs and the other object library is a set of 3D numbers and common symbols. If you are wanting to have 3D letters from a particular font then look into the suggestion Horo gave of Elefont. If you don't care about it being a particular font and just need 3D letters and numers then the item I mentioned above would work for you.

You can find the link on my website (see sig below). Goto Raytracing > Tools > Elefont. Thanks for mentioning it, LHD.
How to create+import realistic/sculpted HD terrains :
******Required software: Mudbox/any sculpting app. and World Machine 2
1. see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkb9HX6FSZE (How to create Vector Displacement Maps for Mudbox)
2. save the displacement map as 16bit .tiff (Integer) from your sculpting application.
3. load it into the world machine , apply erosion ..etc, build the terraing.
4. save the Heighfield output map from World Machine in 512 or 1024 or 2048 rez in .tiff 16bit
5.Open Bryce, generate a random terrain , click on E to enter in terrain lab, set the terrain for 512 or 1024 or 2048 from the left side of the terrain image on those multi little squares , click on "Picture" and load the highfield map saved from world machine as .tiff format.
6. Done
Average time to do it at first time including the stamp ~ 4-6 hours.
GOOD TO KNOW
Might work with zbrush/sculptirs/modo/etc too if can save displacement maps.World Machine free version can work with terrains up to 512x512 resolution.Saving as vector displacement map to be used again as a stamp/stencil on a blank plane in mudbox is useful if you want to create a terrain with parts of the duplicated mountain/hill.
Displacement maps can not used to save properly NEGATIVE sculpting such as canyons, river deltas.Or at least i didn't found a way yet. However if you computer and Bryce can handle a very high poly terrain you can save the sculpted/textured terrain with stamp/stencil used with INVERTED function as an .obj.This will create canyons ,river deltas, etc. If your computer cant hadle a high poly sculpted canyon or river delta then you have to be creative/inventive and make a fake canyon from some vertical mountains or ,the last option is to sculpt negative terrain in Bryce-terrain editor.
maybe i missed something or im wrong, waiting for a reply from Bryce masters.
Saving the terrain from mudbox as obj (high poly) to make the things much easier to load the terrain obj in Bryce might cause a crash or when you use E to smooth the polygons(might be low RAM the cause).Recommended is to use only heighfield maps.

First off I want to thank and show my appreciation to all who produce tutorials especially the ones that are free and available for download, and looking at the above list David, and Horo
I am coming back to Bryce again after being frustrated and disillusioned and dragging my feet through mud trying to learn the programme, I am slowly going through the Bryce 7 Artist Guide (all 1328 pages) and getting as many tutorials as I can.
My problem is (and it may just be my problem) is that I learn better when I know what things do, why we use them, and what happens either good or bad when we use them, as apposed to watching someone say "lets do this and this, press this and Voila there we are"
I looked at the Bryce Mentoring DVD and its a little pricey but I will get it if it helps me with the particular process I am trying to learn.
I am looking for detailed explanations, examples and reasons why we use and what each menu item does in
Texture Mapping Mode
The DTE - The Blend Mode - The Filter Dialogue,
Basically the nuts and bolts
so, my question is,
Are there any in depth tutorials on the menu items ?
or
Are they on the Bryce Mentoring DVD?
Thanks in advance
Welcome back to Bryce. It is difficult to answer your question about in-depth tutorials on the menu items on the Mentoring DVD. There are some but may not be the ones you're looking for. I understand your mode of learning very well: the why is at least as important as the how.
Have a look at my website (see sig) and go to Bryce Documents. You will find a couple of things that may interest you. Under Mine PDF > Diverse you find a document that lists everything that's on that DVD. The sub-topic Material has a 84 page PDF summing up the 17 videos by David on the DTE. Under the Video link, you find also links to the video Transcripts which are sometimes quite elaborate and are more than just transcripts.
Thanks Horo, on my way there now
Couple of new tuts today.

ok I gave the Wings3D ring thing a try.
figuring out materials and the scene took a lot longer than making the doohickey.
Now that is very nice. Bit dark on my monitor... maybe I've not got it set right?

I've done numerous searches and I can't seem to find a tutorial: I need to know how to set up a repeating or looping motion within a longer Bryce animation, such as pulsating lights, rotating ceiling fan, etc.
There must be a simple way to do this, but I haven't found anything. Links?
Hi Murphisto,
Well I can't answer your question but... I know who would be able to. Oro, the poster of this thraed http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/33295/ I suggest posting a question at the end here and seeing if you can capture the ear of the Bryce animation master.
Thanks David, will do. And thanks for all of your great tutorials as well! They've been of immense help over the years.
Fallen a bit behind on my updates. Here's some more tutorials for those that like that kind of thing. Some Bryce, some Wings 3D and even the odd bit of DS in there.

Thanks Rashad!
Thanks. I being looking for tutorials on line.
The website https://www.bryce-tutorials.info/ has been given a major overhaul and now includes even more resources links to tutorials and well, to be fair, I'm always falling behind on my updates so this is the solution to that issue. The site has a search feature now which should (in theory) make it easier to track down the specifc topic/tutorial you are looking for.
The site is awesome now very user-friendly. When I visited last week I thought I was in the wrong site but soon realized that site was revamped.
I agree with mermaid: wonderful site now!
