Hiding Parent Node in Scene Doesn't Hide It's Children

Why doesn't hiding a parent node in a scene hide it's children as well? This is typical of other software. Is there a work around? I don't want to waste time clicking 20 children when I want to hide a parent. They could even have a link icon for toggling an effect on children or not. Will this be addressed in future versions? Thanks!

The group node will hide all of its children when hidden. Other nodes do not. You can however select multiple nodes at a time and use the Parameters pane to turn their visibility on or off all at once.

I've found clicking the tree arrow to have the children not listed {all scrolled together} and then hiding the Top line, hides the entire group.
Think there's a little glitch in that eye system.

Thank you. This was driving me nuts with 4.6 (apparently still a bug) to adjust selectivity and visibility en masse. At least now I have a clue about what to fiddle with to get it to work. =)
